can all fly in and drive your truck and a U-Haul home.”
“Works for me.” Hell, Ellie and Travis would be screaming excited. “We’ll tell them tonight.”
“What is your plan for the ranch, love? What do you—”
A pounding at the door interrupted them. “Logic! Logic, dude! Are you okay?”
“I need a video camera doorbell.” Logic grinned up at him. “That’s my best friend, Mal. My neighbor, Mr. Collins, he watches the house like a hawk. Can you answer it?”
“Sure, babe.” He popped up, curious to see what Mal was like. He’d seen pictures. Ellie was gonna be fascinated.
“Who are you? Where’s Logic? I will karate chop your ass. I’m scary. Boo!” Adorable and rumpled and blood-shot—someone had been working a lot.
“Hey, now. You must be Mal. I’m Jericho Yeager.” He stuck out his hand. “Pleased to meet you.”
“The cowboy? Logic’s cowboy? The closeted one?” Mal shook his head. “You came out?”
“Mal, get in here.” Logic sounded tickled and exasperated.
“Sorry.” Mal barged past him. “Oh my God, Logic, he’s so pretty!”
“Right? I told you. Lickable. Taken, but lickable.”
Lord. His cheeks went hot. “Uh, thanks.”
Logic grinned at him. “You’re welcome.”
Mal stopped. Looked at Logic. Turned to look at him. Then back to Logic. “Rings.”
Logic nodded. “Rings.”
Jesus, that was quick.
“Does that mean…?”
“We’re going to bring the kids up to see the condo in a couple weeks, and then they’re moving in.” Logic looked to him, begging him to agree.
“Hell, I asked him to marry me, Mal. We’re gonna do it up right.” Jericho thought he might bust from the happiness of saying it to someone not his own family.
Mal vibrated—like actually, visibly vibrated. “We get to meet the kids? Oh. Oh, I love this. Oh, Logic. I want to hug you! Why are you broken?”
“A guy beat me up with a truck.”
“Right. Scary.” Mal came to Jericho and wrapped him in a tight hug, shocking the hell out of him. “Welcome home, buddy.”
“Thank you.” He held off the urge to cry like a titty baby, but he did hug back. “It’s like I’ve got a feather up my butt I’m so tickled.”
Mal smacked his arm. “Kinky! I like it.”
“We were talking about supper. Do you want to go out?” Jericho asked Mal.
Mal looked to Logic. “Are you up to it? You might get a few pictures…”
Logic met his eyes. “I’m not A-list, but the TV show is new and the new book is ramping up… Are you cool?”
“I am.” He would take Logic out and show him off. “If you’re rested up enough, I’d love to see out there.”
“Then let’s go down to the beach, look around, and grab food. Mal? You in?”
“Totally. I’m starving. I’ve been on deadline. It’s been three days since I slept.”
“Let’s do it.” He winked. “You might want to change.” Logic was super mismatched.
“You might need to help me, huh?”
“I totally can.”
Mal waved a hand. “I’ll go pick out clothes while you hobble.”
Jericho looked at his lover. “Does he dress you a lot?”
“All the time.”
He’d see about that. “I think that’s going to be my job.”
“You’re hot when you’re jealous.” Logic winked. “Not that I will provoke it, I swear.”
“Good deal.” He would be happy to leave those bar games to the Texas folks.
“You and I waited a long time to play.” Logic went in the bedroom and smiled at Mal. “I don’t know if I can get that shirt on. Can you do me a favor?”
“Sure.”
“Find Jericho a hoodie from the coat closet. He’s going to freeze.”
“I’m on it!” Mal bounced out.
“I’m gonna freeze, huh? I almost did driving in.” He found Logic an easier shirt.
“You’re going to learn about Monterey weather. It never gets cold, but it never ever gets hot. In the morning, you’ll hear the sea lions.” Logic was smiling when he turned to see him. “I can’t wait to show Ellie.”
“She’ll be so excited.” Logic really did love his kids. It was amazing.
“I’ll take her to see them. I figure Travis will be in the office until school starts, at least.”
“At least, though he’ll want to see the water too.”
Logic chuckled. “Yes, especially if there are girls there. Man, we are in so much trouble. He’s already fascinated with the boobies.”
“I know! I caught him watching your show.” Lord, his boy had panicked.
“And you still proposed?” Logic shot back.
“Ellie expressed how romantic it was. Couldn’t let her down.”
“Well, you didn’t let me down. It was the most romantic thing I’ve ever seen.”
He loved that, how Logic said things to him, talked to him.
“Just you
