Come Hot (Club Silken #2) - Jerrie Alexander Page 0,62

the same way.”

I’m normally not speechless. Any friend or coworker will confirm that, but right now I can’t put together a string of words that will sound coherent. Taylor takes advantage of my silence and kisses me again. His mouth covers mine and somebody moans. I think it was me. His tongue dives inside, tasting me. It’s sinfully erotic. I stretch against the seatbelt to meet him, wanting to hold his face in my hands. A growl rolls up from his chest. He’s feeling the frustration too. I pull away.

The driver clears his throat and said, “I’d tell you two to get a room but you’re almost home.”

“What?” I look out the window for landmarks or signs. Judging from the building and college campus ahead of us, we’re on the opposite side of town from my apartment.

“My credit card and address is on file with Uber.” Taylor reaches across the backseat and covers my hand with his. “He can take you home from here or you can go up with me. I promise nothing will happen you don’t want.”

The OMG section of my brain starts running like a calculator adding up the months it’s been since I’ve had sex. Oh, shit. I did shave everything that needed shaving today in the shower. Didn’t I?

The car leaves the highway and slows down. I look at Taylor’s face and see hope in his eyes. I nod. That’s all. No comment. Nothing. I might not be talking but my skin feels like I just fell into an ant farm. I’m not a silly teenager and it’s time to behave as if I’m in the board room with my boss the VP of accounting.

“I don’t work on Saturday. Staying with you shouldn’t be a problem.”

Taylor’s smiling as we drive under a street lamp. “You’re off Saturday and Sunday?”

“I am but I have scullery maid duties to perform before Monday.”

The driver stops in front of an apartment complex. Taylor thanks him and helps me out of the car. Standing on the curb next to Taylor watching the Uber’s taillights fade, I’m questioning the wisdom of my decision.

“You’re having second thought about staying with me.” His arm wraps around my shoulders. He’s warm and strong as he massages the back of my neck. “I will never force you into anything. Say the word and I’ll call for another Uber and wait right here with you until the car picks you up and drives away.”

His words sound sincere, yet mixed with disappointment. I realize I don’t want to leave. Every fiber in my being wants him so why walk away? I’m a grown woman who’s in charge of her wants and needs. “Which apartment is yours?”

A smile lights his face and he squeezes my shoulder. “I’ll show you.”

We walk inside and to the elevator. The doors are open and a chair is propped in front and has an out of order sign taped to it. His apartment is three floors up and we take the steps easily. Taylor opens his apartment and leads me inside to a very small space. It’s neat and clean but for such a tall, broad shouldered man, I’m surprised Taylor doesn’t feel boxed in. Maybe it’s all he can afford. I remember those days of not having enough money all too well.

“It’s really too small to entertain anyone. Until now all I used this place for was to study and sleep.”

“Don’t tell me I’m the first woman who’s been in your apartment.”

He pulled me toward him until my chest meets his. “You’re the first woman I’ve invited to stay the night.”

Meet Jerrie

A career in logistics offered me the opportunity to travel to many beautiful locations in America, and I revisit them in her romantic suspense novels.

I write romantic suspense with alpha males and kick-ass women who weave their way through death and fear to emerge stronger because of, and on occasion in spite of, their love for each other. I like to put my characters in difficult positions, make them suffer, and if they’re strong enough, they live happily ever after.

My contemporary erotic romance series has a smaller number of books published but the third one will release soon.

My books are written to stand alone with no cliff hangers.

One of my favorite things is to hear from readers!

You’re who I write for!
