Caught Between Three Billionaire Tycoons - Willa Hart Page 0,43

or anything else.”

“Hmm.” I took another sip of wine and was grateful for the relief it gave me. My fear had been disconnected and simply floated away.

“My wife was pretty scared.” Aleksy sighed as if the memory was too painful for him. “She just couldn’t handle it. We get cards sometimes. I don’t know where she is.” He looked down into his wine glass and my heart ached to see him in so much pain.

“The fighting over the land!” I said suddenly. “It’s not a real estate thing, is it?”

Zavier laughed. “No. It's not. It’s a territory war. It’s been going on for a long time. The thing is, we basically stopped it in its tracks today. We spilled our own blood willingly fore common cause. That was the only thing that could end the bloodshed, and it seemed an impossible task. Until today.”

“I don’t know how to tell grandpa.” Aleksy shook his head as he finished his wine. “He won’t know what to do with himself if I tell him the war is off.”

Daire moved uncomfortably, and an undercurrent of tension suddenly set the room into discord.

“What is it?” I whispered, as if the boogie man was going to come crawling out of the cracks in the walls.

“We’ll have something new to fight about soon.” Zavier patted my knee gently. The silence swept through them and I felt adrenaline rising.

“Will someone please tell me what the fuck is going on?” Too much wine, too much stress. I needed to know what was going on with no more bullshit.

“We all imprinted on you, Whitney.” Zavier shook his head. “All three of us.”

“What does that mean?”

“Our human side is more flexible about partners, but it’s our bear side that decides if its forever, if it’s love. When it sees her, the perfect mate, it’s like a direct genetic imprint. We know in that moment that there is only one person who can fulfill our every need. Forever.”

I tried to let that sink in. I didn’t even know how to feel.

“It can be totally one sided, Whitney.” Aleksy said softly. “That’s why we haven’t told you until now. It’s up to you to choose your mate. Our bear doesn’t always work rationally. That’s kind of the point.”

“Why me?” There was no other question I wanted an answer to.

They all shook their heads, to my horror.

“We don’t know.” Daire sounded pained.

“No. None of us know how the choice is made. Genetics has a lot to do with it—pheromones, that kind of thing, but we really don’t know.”

“You’re beautiful,” Aleksy said, getting closer to me.

“You’re warm and full of compassion.” Zavier smiled at me.

“You’re a wild woman, barely restrained.” Daire looked up at me, his blue eyes glinting in a feral way. I felt something in me respond to all three of them.

“Is there some kind of rule about how this imprinting works? What if I like all of you?”

Daire laughed. “Then we would have to share you.”

All I could do to answer him was raise an eyebrow. I really did like all three of them, and I had been fantasizing about all three already. Call it exhaustion or just very good wine, but I was ready for anything right now.

Zavier leaned over and kissed me, soft, sweet, warm.

Aleksy reached over from the other side. His kiss was firm, commanding, possessing.

When I turned to Daire, he got up on his knees, cupping my face. His kiss was wild, savage, ferocious.

He pulled me down on the rug. I went easily into his arms and the other two came down and settled beside me.

Daire reached for me again and I stretched out my arm to him.

A heavy growl filled the room, and I had just enough time to see Zavier reaching out with a wicked paw to swipe at Daire.

Part of me knew Zavier wasn’t in full control. He hadn’t fully shifted, only parts of his hand, but it was clearly a territorial reaction.

And he couldn’t control it.

I was halfway up the stairs before I knew what was happening. My breath was burning my throat. It was one thing to be rolling around on the floor with three sexy guys. Quite another to have them turn into fighting bears.

I grabbed my blanket and hurled myself under the covers. I curled into a ball and kept my finger primed on the spray can.

I knew that it must not have taken long to fall asleep after the shocks of today. However, wicked growls kept finding their way to
