me for my drinks as soon as I arrived back at the booth and immediately Lupine asked, "So who's giving you the hot and cold?"

My eyes betrayed me before I could even get the words out.

"The bartender?" Lupine squealed with excitement as she watched Logan from the back of the booth.

I knew my cheeks were flushed, what I didn’t know was if anyone else could tell, what with the red lighting and the shadow of the booth.

"They had a sexy dance at the hop and then...?" Iris began, clearly wanting me to spill.

"Then he used the exact same moves on another woman, the hand kiss, the shoulder touch, all of it, like he had a playlist of seduction moves he was following. I feel so gullible. When Bryce and I broke up I thought it had just been my young heart that had been naive but now I'm wondering if I'm just easy pickings for men like that." I took a deep breath and slowly released it.

"You're not a kid, and you're not naive, you just take things at face value and trust people mean what they say and do, which is really refreshing, and one of the reasons I think you're awesome," Iris said, her smile warming the cold edges of my heart.

"Could you go get me another drink?" Lupine asked as she rubbed her baby bump. When I hesitated, she added, "These shoes are giving me blisters. I don't know what I was thinking wearing them."

I could feel the manipulation happening. I may have said I was naive, but I wasn't that blind to people trying to get me to do things. "Sure thing, hon. Same again?" I asked, picking up her empty glass.

She nodded, and as I walked away Iris called, "We're dancing when you get back, so be ready!"

Throwing a smile over my shoulder, I kept walking. I sucked at dancing. If Logan hadn't basically moved me to where he wanted me at the hop, I would have just stood in place and swayed like I was at a freaking eighth grade dance. When I got to the bar, Rose was disappearing into the backroom with a wide grin on her face and someone tugging on her hand, no doubt one of her mates. I'd seen goofy smiles like that around town and they always belonged to women who had mates, plural.

The idea of being in a relationship with multiple men was common in Silver Springs, but I knew that wasn't the case everywhere. It stressed me out a little to think about. I had to pick up all the time after Bryce when we'd lived together. Picking up after three or more men? No, thank you. It was like him taking out the trash was a miracle, can you imagine walking in and having four men, none of whom could be bothered to take out the trash? Ugh. It made my blood boil just thinking about it.

"Refills for Lupine and me, and two shots of tequila with a slice of lime, please," I called over the bar when Logan came over.

It felt like his eyes were eating me up with the way they were tracing the movements of my mouth and occasionally dipping down to my cleavage, but he was probably just trying to read my lips because he couldn't hear me over the music. And who could resist cleavage? I put it out there, and I knew people would look. I just didn't care. As much as I was wondering if Logan was a player, I also wanted him. Just his eyes on me sent electricity down my spine straight to my pussy.

He was back a few moments later with the drinks. The crowd at the bar seemed to have thinned out a little as the music got more intense, which I wasn't complaining about. When Logan dropped off the shot glasses and a couple slices of lime on a napkin, along with a saltshaker, I smiled and thanked him, trying not to get lost in his dark eyes. He smiled back but it was close lipped, which was disappointing. I guess I had been right about everything at the hop.

I licked the fleshy part of my hand between my forefinger and thumb and sprinkled some salt on it. Taking one of the shot glasses in the other hand I licked the salt, poured the tequila in my mouth and swallowed before popping the slice of lime in afterward and sucking. Logan's eyes were
