Rhys brought my mouth back to his, hovering against it with what I needed and desired most just out of my reach. “Who is your mother?”
“Elizabeth Rhianna Cordova Silversmith,” I uttered, chasing the pleasure his lips promised. He stiffened, and my mind began to buzz with voices, voices whispering spells that worked on my flesh but did little to ease the pressure between my thighs.
“Elizabeth is dead, Remi. I know. I watched her die,” he growled, studying my face.
“She escaped, along with a few others. Beneath the stairs inside the library was a secret passageway that led deep into the woods where no one was looking. Into the shadows, the Silversmith goes, for the Van Helsing wants to consume our souls. From witch’s light, and faraway fright, the Van Helsing comes with all his might, but Silversmith knows how deep to go. Hide from them now. Hide from them all, for we remain the strongest house of all.” I sang it for him, my off-tune hum in synchronized movements with my hips as he studied me.
His mouth brushed against mine, holding me in whatever thrall he had over me. My skin glowed, and his eyes lowered, studying the runes before he shook his head, dropping his hands to my hips.
“What are you, Remi Silversmith?” he growled, rocking my body against his. “Tell me to stop. Tell me you don’t want me. Tell me to stop this, and it ends now.”
I swallowed as my mind slowly took in what was happening around me. My body was strung tightly, pulsing with the need to release the tension he’d created. I could see the tick hammering in his jaw, his pupils dilating with lust as I leaned over, claiming his mouth to stop my brain from stuttering over the reality of what was happening.
He moved swiftly, lifting my body against his before placing me on the table, wrapping my legs around his hips. My hands pushed against his chest as he continued kissing me like I was the air he needed to breathe. His fingers captured the bottom of my shirt, lifting it over my head easily as he broke the kiss, slowly lowering me to the table. His hands trailed from my hips to my belly as he peered into my soul’s depths, devouring it with the look burning in his eyes.
My stomach coiled with tension as a wild fluttering began within me, as if butterflies had taken flight and searched for a way to escape. His mouth lowered, clicking his teeth against the piercing in my nipple, pulling against it. I hissed at the pain mixing with pleasure, lifting my hips to roll them as my eyes closed. Absolute pleasure rushed through me from his heated kisses and nibbles.
A knock sounded at the door, and I opened my eyes as he reached between our bodies, stroking against my pleasure zone until I trembled from the pressure. His fingers pinched my clit through my pants as sinfully dark blue eyes slid up to hold mine. I exploded as his other hand lifted, covering my mouth, and he groaned like he was in pain during my sudden release.
“Van Helsing. Cole just walked into the bar!” someone shouted from the other side of the door.
Rhys yanked me up, and my head spun as he grabbed the shirt he’d tossed on the floor, pulling it over my head. He picked up one hand, pushing it through the sleeve before doing the same to my other. His hand lifted, pushing his fingers through his hair as he smiled victoriously at me.
“Don’t cuss at me too much, Love. That bloody bastard will see it as foreplay.”
“What the hell just happened?” I asked through swollen lips.
“That curse your friend mentioned? It’s not real, but the one about our lines being connected most definitely is. If you stay with me, I’ll tell you more about it. If Elizabeth is your mother, you shouldn’t be trying to find her. She will find you. That woman is relentless when she puts her mind to it.”
The door opened, and the tattooed male from earlier in the night entered, his heady stare falling on me as he invited himself inside. His lips curled into a dark smile while he slid his attention down my body to where Rhys held my hips.
“Sanctuary, brother,” Cole smirked. “Unless, of course, you intend to break Van Helsing law by denying me entrance?” Cole asked, his eyes sparkled while he studied the way
