Brynna (Stone Society) - Faith Gibson Page 0,56

did because Amelia preferred it. Finley was totally smitten with the older female. Since he hadn’t transformed, Banyan didn’t think they were mates.

All the kids went to school in the States, and because of that, they were part of the Stone Society Clan as much as they were the Norse Clan. With the number of offspring the Clan had, it was amazing to see how strong they were together. They were good citizens. Wonderful role models. Leaders for their peers. They were truly a sight to behold, and Brynna was proud of all the kids.

Speaking of proud, Nova was a beautiful young woman with a heart of gold. After graduating college, she and Levi had opened several youth centers, both in the States and Norway, focused mainly on helping children from broken homes, continuing Banyan’s vision. They had a little help from Calder, who happened to be Nova’s mate. The male had felt the bond the day he met Nova, but being an honorable male, he stayed away from the human until she was eighteen. If Levi could find a mate, things would be perfect.

Brynna had finished the salad and was moving on to getting the meat ready for the grill when she felt Travis’s mood change. She didn’t get a chance to ask him what was wrong before he cursed loudly. That was unlike him, especially in front of the kids. She wiped her hands and rushed out the door with Nova on her heels. The younger kids were talking excitedly over each other, pointing to the sky. Banyan’s twins had phased. Fully. Brynna stopped next to Travis and looked up to see what the fuss was about.

“No way. No fucking way.” Brynna couldn’t believe what she was seeing.

“Connor was right,” Travis mumbled.

A glorious dragon circled above. Its red scales shimmered under the sun.

“Something’s wrong with her!” Brent yelled, clutching his stomach. “Mom, call uncle B. Now. Something’s wrong.” Her son fell to his knees, and Brynna rushed to his side.

“Nova, call your dad,” Brynna instructed her niece. She fretted over her oldest child who was holding his stomach while keeping an eye on the sky.

Nova called Banyan who was supposed to be on his way with Urijah. The two of them had a large shipment they had to get finished at the armory that morning. “Dad! You need to get here now. There’s a dragon, and Brent… Yes, I said a dragon, but Brent says there’s something wrong. Okay.” Nova disconnected and joined Brynna who was kneeling beside Brent. “They’re already on their way.”

B’s house was a couple kilometers away, and if they were already on their way… She looked in the direction of their house, and yep, there they were. Tor and Bodi launched into the air to join their dads.

“Don’t hurt her!” Brent yelled. Trinity knelt next to her twin. If he was hurting, she was feeling it. The two had an almost psychic bond. Trinity placed her hands on his shoulders, no doubt sending a calming vibe to her brother.

Everyone watched as the four Gargoyles flew closer to the dragon. All of a sudden, the great beast’s massive wings stopped flapping, her body hanging suspended in the air momentarily before she plummeted to the ground.

“No!” Brent yelled, stumbled to his feet, and ran toward the female. The four Gargoyles dove quickly and managed to grab onto her and slow her descent so when she landed, it wasn’t catastrophic for the beast.

“Brenton McKenzie! Get away from her!” Brynna yelled as she ran after him, but her son ignored her. When Brent reached the dragon, he slid to his knees beside her massive head. A sharp fang was on the outside of her lower jaw, and her eyes were closed. Brynna didn’t know if the large beast was dead or pretending. Brynna’s heart was threatening to beat out of her chest as Brent reached out to touch the animal’s head.

“Brent!”

“It’s okay, Mom.” Brent was still pale, but his eyes were shining with joy. “She’s my mate.”

A Note from The Author

Thank you so much for reading Brynna. If you enjoyed the book, I would appreciate you scrolling to the end and leaving a review. It doesn’t have to be long, just honest and heartfelt.

Brynna was so much fun to write. Being a full-blooded Gargoyle, I knew she was a badass, but when I delved into her past, it was amazing to find out all the adventures she’d had. Even so, she was still missing something in her life – her mate. When Brynna first came into existence, I knew it wouldn’t be a fierce Gargoyle who would win her heart, but a kind human. To me, Travis was perfect for her.

As with all my books, I put a little something of myself into them, and with Brynna, it was being a younger sister to an older brother and how it felt to “not matter as much.” I also included the song “Pretty Donna” which I played at my own wedding. I have also made it known that I want “Rebel Heart” played at my end of life party (because I don’t want a funeral).

As you can tell from the epilogue, Gargoyles and Gryphons aren’t the only beasts around, and we’ll get to know more about these other shifters in the upcoming series featuring all the kids. And there are a lot of offspring. The adults aren’t going anywhere, but they are taking a step back as their kids become the leaders of the shifter community. Speaking of kids, there are a lot of them in the epilogue, and I have listed their names and ages below.

Next in the Stone Society series is Spectrum. This is a compilation of shorter stories that visit characters from past books, including Remy, Gabriel, and Ezekiel. I am also including Rafael and Kaya in there. We find out what they are up to in Italy. You can preorder Spectrum as well as the next Hounds book below.

About the Author

Multi-genre author Faith Gibson began writing in high school, and through the years, penned many stories and poems. As her dreams continued getting crazier than the one before, she decided to keep a dream journal. Many of these nighttime escapades have led to a line, a chapter, or even a complete story.

“Love is love, and there’s not enough love in the world.” This belief she holds strongly, and it's the prevailing theme in her works, all of which come with a happy ending.

Faith believes her purpose in life is to entertain the masses, even if it’s one person at a time. Living just outside of Nashville, Tennessee, with the love of her life and her pit bull pup, when she’s not hard at work writing her next adventure, she can often be found playing trivia while enjoying craft beer, listening to live music, or off on an adventure of her own.
