"I know you do, and that makes me love you even more, as does your non-fussiness about a lot of stuff. We'll get someone to officiate, and you'll get a nice dress, get someone to make a cake so that you don't have to, and we'll just have hors d'oeuvres and champagne."

Ryan took her into his own arms then and kissed her lightly. "There's nothing to worry about at all, honey. You just find yourself whatever pretty dress you like, and we'll all be there with bells on."

She bit her lip, looking tentative, so Adam appropriated her from his brother, sitting down to pull her onto his lap and curving his arms around her.

"And I promise you that we will do this in a much more romantic way than we just did."

"Do what?"

"Propose to you, silly!"

"Oh. Oh! I didn't think of that, either! I'm just so spacey without a job to go to!"

Ryan snorted. "Yeah, it's the lack of a job that makes you spacey!" he teased.

So, she threw a pillow at him.

"That'll go away quickly, I promise," Jace soothed, sitting to one side of them as Ryan did on the other side.

"But there was something I was thinking of asking you guys about."

"What's that?"

She was almost blushing, and the boys were very intrigued by what she might have come up with.

"Well, since I don't have a job, there's really no need for a bedtime, is there?"

Nick cleared his throat at that, waving his hand. "Still here, for what it's worth."

Laurie blushed hard. "Oh dear, I'm so sorry, Nick! You didn't want to hear that!"

He grinned. "Well, I don't know if I would go quite that far."

His brothers growled at him.

And he ignored them. "It's not like I…" He couldn't see a way to go forward with that without making her feel just that much more embarrassed. "It's fine. I just didn't want you to say anything you'd really regret me hearing."

"You're a dear. Thank you."

Nick sighed. "Yeah, that's me. A dear." He got up. "I'm going to head to bed, guys. Sleep well."

"You, too!"

Laurie fought her way off Adam's lap to go over to him and hug him again—which he kind of wished she wouldn't do, really—and thank him again for all of his help.

"You're welcome, doll."

When she was alone with them again, she started to try to revisit her bedtime, but Ryan came up to her and held out his hand to her, since this was his night with her. "C'mon, hon," he whispered. "Let's leave the old farts to themselves."

He thought to make a clean getaway, but the other brothers stopped them, smacked him upside the head for his derogatory remark, then claimed flagrant good night kisses from her before they turned her over to him.

By the time he got into her room with her, Ryan was eager to erase all traces of his brothers' possession of her, and he proceeded to bend her back over his arm and kiss the breath out of her before helping her to kneel before him.

Usually, he expected her to undress him, but he was too eager for her, so he took care of that himself, turning back from the bed where he'd put his clothes, to reveal his enormous erection.
