Logan turns his gaze on me. “Ya look happy. I don’t know if I’ve ever been able to truly say that about ya over the years. It looks good on ya. Do what ya need to keep her. I will regret my mistakes for as long as I live. Never let her down, ya hear,” he says slipping deep into his accent.
“Yeah, I hear you.”
He stands and pats me on the shoulder. “Good. We’ll be getting out of your hair. See you soon.”
I watch Roni as the guys say their goodbyes and leave. I don’t plan on letting her down or letting her go. She turns to me and for the first time today that smile is out.

Cared For
Roni
“Nice,” I murmur to myself. “Almost done.”
I’m lying in the middle of the bed working John’s books for the business. He is not about the books, scheduling jobs and getting the job done is his thing. I’m getting things in order and setting it up for his dad to have access to the account John created to send Black and Lock their cut of the business.
Black Confidential has been doing great. We’re able to do jobs here and there while also helping out Black and Lock. John seems to be happy with the workflow, but my head almost exploded when I looked over his shoulder as he looked at all this last night.
With our flight leaving in the morning, I want this done. I hit send on the email for Joe and Rob. I’ve finished the task of linking their access. I save and start to look over my work.
That’s when a gift box is tossed on the bed. I look up to find John standing before the bed staring back at me. He reaches for his shirt and begins to strip out of his clothes. Sitting up and crossing my legs in front of me, I take in the show he’s putting on.
Once he’s butt naked, he stands with his legs set wide and arms across his chest. “Put that on,” he commands.
“Put what on, Mr. Black?” I say with a grin.
“Open the box, smartass.”
I reach for the box and take the lid off. Peeling the tissue paper back, I find a sheer scrap of fabric. I hold it up and look over it at John.
“You needed all that box for this little bullshit?”
He drops his head back and blows out a breath. “Only you,” he snorts. He looks at me and barks the command again. “Put it on.”
I toss it back into the box and stare at him. He shakes his head at me, but I don’t move. Yup, I’m defiant for the sake of it.
He bends at the waist and places his palms flat on the bed. “You want this as bad as I do. We’ve been talking about it for the last two days. What’s the problem, princess?”
I get on all fours and claw to him. Wrapping my arms around his neck, I place my forehead to his. “This handing over control thing. It may be a problem.”
He lifts to his full height bringing me with him. I wrap my legs around him, and he captures my lips. The taste of something citrus bursts into my mouth, pulling a moan from my lips.
“You said that wasn’t a problem for you. What’s changed your mind?”
“I like watching you try not to be annoyed when I don’t listen.” I pout.
He releases a laugh. “Is that right?”
“Yeah.”
He kisses my nose. “How about this? For today, this will be all about your pleasure and yours alone. We go inside and do whatever you want. One day of you having full control before you hand it all over to me.”
“You…give up control? Yeah, right.”
He nips my lip. “The only way to find out is to put that on and follow me.”
