Brazen and Breathless (Untouchable #6) - Heather Long Page 0,24
“Besides, she liked to snuggle when she watched it.”
And there it was.
Frankie let out a sigh. “So, at the risk of starting trouble, and now because I want to know, how many shows did you guys watch with me because I liked snuggling?”
“All of them,” I answered.
Bubba snorted, then shrugged as he said, “Yeah, fortunately some of them were pretty good, so we didn’t mind.”
“Agreed,” Coop teased her. “Though, you’ve always been a cuddle bunny when it comes to shows. It’s ’cause you don’t like jump scares.”
True enough.
“Anyway,” Frankie muttered as she tried to slide out of his lap, but Coop kept an arm around her and she finally settled again. “Harvard has always been…the dream. But…dreams can change.”
I met her gaze steadily, then fisted my courage in two hands. I’d been avoiding this conversation. “I only applied to go with you,” I told her. “And I don’t plan on accepting my admission if you’re not there.”
The silence in the room grew thick.
“Jacob Benton. You got in?”
With a shrug, I nodded. “And I should have told you, but until you got your letter, I didn’t want you feeling bad.”
Then she was wiggling out of Coop’s lap and climbing over Archie before she circled the table, and I barely had time to move my pizza before she straddled me. Hands on my face, she scowled at me. “You do not get to keep exciting news from me!”
“It wasn’t that exciting, Baby Girl,” I admitted. “The excitement of you getting into NYU along with me? Along with the guys? That’s the excitement I want. Harvard? Nope. Not if you’re not there. Pfft. They have nothing to offer me.”
“What he’s saying in his blunt way,” Archie offered, “is that we care less about where we go than who we go with. He doesn’t want a long-distance relationship. For any of us.”
“True story,” I agreed before pressing a kiss to Frankie’s forehead. At her gentle urging, I moved to meet her lips, and then I let the guys fall away as her mouth moved against mine.
“Why didn’t I get a kiss?” Coop complained. “I’m calling foul.”
Frankie laughed against my mouth and twisted to flip Coop off before she wiggled to sit between me and Bubba. Probably better. No way she missed the erection poking at her ass and those boxers were loose enough, I could probably get them off in nothing.
“Because you wanted to give me crap about the fact that I loved Logan.”
He rolled his eyes. “You loved Tristan, too.”
“Tristan was misunderstood.”
“Uh huh.”
“And he could have gotten better.”
“Uh huh.”
“And,” Bubba interrupted them, because the two were about to dive down into snarkland together. “Let’s talk schools?”
“Fine,” Frankie agreed, almost too quickly, before stealing a look at Archie, who wore the most pleased little smile. Fuck, I needed to go back and figure out why these dudes were an issue. “NYU is a yes for all of us, right?” She stole a look at Bubba. “Have you heard from them?”
“Conditionally,” he said. “But all of my admits are going to be conditional based on the program I get into. The auditions are for the specific musical colleges, so…they are a little pickier.” He shrugged. “I’ll go where you guys go, and if they don’t take it, I can just do general education and audition again the next year.”
A frown tightened her brow. “That doesn’t seem fair to you.”
“It’s totally fair to me, Angel. I’m with you guys. Who we’re with, not where we go. Besides…there’s still the contract. That might keep me busy.”
“Any word on that?” Archie asked with the same look he’d had at the cabin when Bubba’s music came up. Five bucks said he would diversify and invest in the music business any time now. Because Archie.
“Nope,” Bubba said, easily. “Frankie and I have two more songs to record, then I can send them the full demo. They wanted six or seven with a little different styling to check my range.”
“And when do we get to hear these?” I glanced at her. The fact that he got her to sing should probably make me jealous. Well, not should, maybe could. It didn’t though. The pink flush to her cheeks whenever it came up and the surprise she’d shown when we all applauded her singing at the cabin made me too fucking happy.
“When I’m not there to hear how terrible I am,” Frankie retorted, but then she made a face when Bubba pinched her. “Yeah, I know, I’m not terrible. It’s just…I am
