Black Jack (Advantage Play #5) - Kelsie Rae Page 0,6

Honestly, I’m not sure why Kingston let me stay in the first place. I need to get out of this mess on my own. I need to––

Heavy footsteps echo against the concrete floor and cut off the inner dialogue that’s been on a constant loop inside my skull since I wound up here.

I cock my head to the side. They’re getting closer.

The jingle of keys mingles with the steady scuffing of boots against concrete before the guard reaches me. Ted used to be a bouncer on a small island in the Maldives but decided to use his massive bodyweight for throwing around prisoners instead.

“Hey, man,” he greets me.

“Hey.”

“Can you put these on?” He weaves a set of cuffs through the bars, and waits for me to lock them in place. On autopilot, I do as I’m told while waiting for the “you’re free” comment to slip out of him. Unfortunately, it never comes.

Satisfied with my compliance, he unlocks the door, and my pulse skyrockets.

“What’s going on?” I ask.

“You have a visitor.”

“Visitor?”

“Yeah. She’s pretty, man.”

“She?”

He pushes the prison door the rest of the way open. “You didn’t tell me you were getting married. Congrats, man.”

Married?

I don’t move a muscle. What the hell is going on? Is Dominic’s sister here? Why would she come to see me? It doesn’t make any sense.

“Everything okay?” Ted asks with one hand on the barred door while scanning me up and down. “You comin’?”

I clear my throat and force my legs to move. “Yeah.”

“So when’s the big day? I know that being in here isn’t exactly convenient, but….”

“We haven’t really talked about it,” I mutter.

“Oh. Yeah. Got it.”

Ted leads me down a hall to the front of the building, then into a large, square room littered with tables and chairs. It’s empty other than a single person.

My fiancée. Or at least that’s who I assume she is. It’s not exactly like we’ve had the chance to meet.

“You got fifteen minutes. Alright, man?” Ted tells me, snatching my attention from the gorgeous stranger across the room. “I’ll try to squeeze an extra five for you but no guarantees.”

I blink slowly and try to focus. “Uh, thanks, Ted.”

“Don’t mention it.”

Forcing myself to close the distance between us, I drop my chin to the chair across from her. “This seat taken?”

“What? No kiss for your fiancée?” she quips before batting her thick lashes up at me with a smirk. She’s freaking gorgeous.

I hesitate then lean down and press a quick kiss to her dark red lips. They’re soft. And pouty. And have probably been injected to look like a man’s wet dream. But Ted wasn’t kidding when he said she was attractive. Sexy. Not girl-next-door cute. No. She’s something else entirely.

Pulling away, I sit down in the chair beside her and wait for her to take the lead, ‘cause I have no idea why she’s here.

She drags her long, manicured nails along my jaw before tsking, “That’s not a kiss, Jacky Boy.”

“Sure it was. Wanna tell me why you’re here?”

Her coy little smile taunts me as she drops her hand from my cheek and sets it in her lap. “Maybe I wanted to meet my fiancé?”

The bite of cold metal prevents me from lifting my arms to let her inspect me like a prized slab of meat. “Well, here I am. Sorry we had to meet while I’m in prison.”

“Yet, I wouldn’t have expected anything less,” she returns cryptically. “It’s a good thing you look sexy in orange.” I can feel her gaze on me, taking in every inch of my six-foot frame draped in an orange jumpsuit like it’s a cold glass of water.

Her blatant perusal piques my curiosity so I ask, “Have I met your expectations?”

Her tongue darts out between her lips before she drags it along her lower lip and studies me carefully before coming to some kind of conclusion. “You’re cuter than I expected.”

“Is that right?”

“Mmhmm,” she hums. The sound goes straight to my crotch. “When my brother mentioned the word Fed, I assumed you’d be old and fat.” Pressing her elbows to the table, she leans closer and whispers, “But I don’t think I’ll mind your cock buried deep inside of me.”

My eyes widen in shock before I attempt to cover it with indifference.

Did she really just say that? Who the hell is this girl?

I glance over my shoulder toward Ted, but the guy is decent and looks like he’s trying to give us some privacy.

“Unfortunately, I don’t think that’ll be happening anytime soon
