Bitter Kisses (It's Just High School #3) - Thandiwe Mpofu Page 0,48

doesn’t stop.

“Please, stop!” I hear someone cry.

I hear howl of screams, unending and long.

I hear the sound of the pipe as it slices through the air before it makes contact with my body.

I hear it all until it feels like I’m having an out of body experience.

I’m aware of my body being abused. I’m aware that I’m the one begging, screaming, crying, moving around the rusty, old bed as he whips me harder and harder.

I feel my soul’s shattering into a billion pieces that don’t make sense. A part of me dying as the flames of life in me simmer down into ash.

And through that, the monster doesn’t stop. In fact, he seems to be enjoying my pain in a way that’s sickening.

Bile rises up my throat, but I don’t have a candle of hope in containing it. Flipping onto my stomach, I try to get to the side of the bed, but I don’t make it as my jaw snaps open and a torrent of vomit comes rushing out.

“Yes, you disgusting bitch, not so tough and talkative now, are you?” he laughs above me, and my soul is shattered.

I keep retching, like my insides want out. I can feel my heart pounding and I know I’m on the verge of unconsciousness, but I fight to stay awake, not wanting him to do something else to my body.

There’s vomit on the bed and before I can move away from it, Sean stops and then comes closer and leans over. I see blood trickling down his face, his right eye closed shut as it swells up into a nasty black eye.

“That bastard, Fitz, should’ve broke you down when he had the chance but now, now you’re in my fucking wheelhouse. You run in circles when I tell you to without a word of complaint or a sassy response back like you’re used to Ice Queen. I will teach you the error of your ways.”

I have no idea how I’m still listening as the blistering pain spreads like a wildfire through my body.

He just beat me up in my lower body and now, the pain makes sense. They must’ve used that thing to beat me before.

As he stands, I see him through tears and sniffles as he reaches down and then, he has the back of my head in his grip, pulling my hair and then… he plants my face in the disgusting pool of vomit.

“Drink it,” he growls.

Jesus.

I force my mouth to stay shut and he pushes my face in deeper. “I said drink it, bitch.”

I want to die. Please, let me just die now.

The humiliation, the excruciating agony my body is in right now, my nakedness, all of it is too much. I can’t handle this. I can’t keep fighting this kind of evil.

“Oh, come now, brother,” a new voice says. “How will that work with the aesthetics. Let her go.”

Just then, his brother, the asshole I supposedly liked since middle school, walks in with a black bag.

His gaze immediately lands on me. The asshole has the audacity to smirk at me and I just know he heard every word I said about him and I fucking wish I had not said a thing. Blood is gushing from the side of my head and pain throbbing from where I’ve just been struck, my face covered in my own vomit.

“Her disrespect needs addressing.”

“No, the asshole she spread her legs for is the one who needs addressing,” Shane says calmly, his steps echoing in the silence of the warehouse. “I got the stuff.”

Sean starts laughing, letting go of my head and then I hear him above me.

“Finally,” he says, laughing. “And now the fun begins.”

Chapter Twelve

Mia

“What took you so long?”

“I had to check in at home.”

“And?”

“Everything’s going according to plan!” he says gleefully, the evil mirth in his voice unmistakable. “Twitter is buzzing with the news that the Fitzgerald brothers just got there looking for trouble. Hell, there’s even a picture of a fucking raging Fitz Jr. being passed around, that fucking sly bastard!”

My heart stops, dread punching me in the gut.

I lift my head from the pool of vomit and pay attention to their words, trying to piece their words together. Gritting my teeth, I force myself to pay attention, desperate to know what’s happening with Julian and Liam.

“Yes, this is good!” Sean cheers, laughing in the warehouse. “I knew that glorified jerk is nothing more than a fool. I knew the party would throw him for a loop.”

Julian is not
