he didn’t act on it. I wasn’t sure how to say goodbye.

“Are you free for dinner?” he asked before I could give it much more thought. “You want to come back to the pub around seven?”

“Sure,” I said, brightening at the thought of seeing him again.

Back in my room I took a shower and called Maggie to fill her in.

“That is the hottest hike I ever heard of. He carried you out of the water? That’s insane. You have got to get on Hot Hiker Boy. Like now. Like call his business number and say you forgot something and have him come to your room.”

“Oh really? That sounds shady. What exactly did I forget?” I laughed.

“To put his dick in you! What else?”

“Maggie,” I shook my head. “Please tell me that you only talk like this to me.”

“I do. Mostly. I mean I don’t go around at work talking about dicks.”

“Well I’d hope not.”

“But you need to loosen up so I mostly do it to shock you,” she said.

“I think you can quit now. I’m pretty loosened up. I’m going to go swim and have a drink at the pool bar, and then head out to the historical society. They have a presentation on the indigenous cooking methods of the original island natives I want to check out this afternoon before I meet Billy for dinner.”

“I’m sorry I fell asleep while you were talking about a bunch of crap that wasn’t getting in Hot Hiker Boy’s cargo shorts. You have to promise me details tomorrow.”

“I can call you tonight after I get back from dinner,” I said.

“Who are we kidding? He’s staying over. If you two don’t just spontaneously combust and do it in the parking lot of that pub. I swear. I can hear the sexual tension from an ocean away,” Maggie said.

“Whatever,” I replied. “I’ll call you tonight.”

“Talk to you tomorrow. Afternoon,” she laughed and hung up.

Chapter 10

Billy

I got to the pub early. After my last hike of the day, I showered and changed.

Tommy gave me shit about being dressed up because I didn’t come in my hiking gear. Sipping a beer, I waited for Morgan. I had the guy at the door looking out for her. I didn’t want her stuck in line with the rest of the tourists waiting on a free table. He knew to send her right in. I kept my eye on the door, and when she came in, I drank in the sight of her like I hadn’t seen her in weeks instead of just a few hours. All that honey blonde hair spilled over her shoulders and her bright yellow sundress hugged every luscious curve of her body. I wanted to go to her and kiss her, really kiss her until she had to hang on to me because her knees went weak. Instead, I stood up and motioned for her to join me.

Morgan slid into the booth beside me instead of across from me. It was cute and flirty and I stretched my arm along the back of the booth so it was like I had my arm around her. She looked at the menu I had memorized years ago and asked what I recommended. I told her she had to try the sausage rolls because they were my favorite. We picked out some appetizers, ordered our food and a beer for her. Something about watching her in that sundress, her silky hair down, drinking a beer was earthy and sexy and real. I told her about the dartboard in the corner, how we brought it from our grandfather’s bar in Chicago. It was in a cherry wood cabinet, the doors opened wide for the evening, a spotlight shining on it.

“Will you show me how to throw darts later?” she asked flirtatiously.

“You already know how to, don’t you?” I replied flatly.

“Yeah. I do. I’m really good at it. But it might be fun anyway,” she teased.

I knew damn well if I stood behind her to show her how to do anything it would not be fun and innocent. It would be me pressing my hard cock against her and running my hand down her body. I shifted in the booth and tried to cool myself down. This was ridiculous. I was a disciplined, responsible adult, a former SEAL, for fuck’s sake. It wasn’t like I lacked self-control.

The potato skins came. “I didn’t know potato skins were Irish?” she said wryly.

“Anything to do with potatoes is Irish,” I informed her. “Boiled
