the line. Not when it had become so clear over the last few months that we were better together than we ever had been apart.
“Yes,” I whispered. “Let’s do this. Together.”

A Year Later: Ethan
I reached up and tied the blindfold across her eyes, and no, it’s not what you’re thinking. I mean yeah, we’d done that too, but this time it wasn’t about that.
“Don’t take that off,” I warned her. “I don’t want you ruining your surprise.”
“A blindfold, really?” she asked, one eyebrow cocked—because she’d finally figured out how to do that last month, and hadn’t stopped doing it ever since.
I reached up and smoothed the pad of my thumb across the eyebrow in question.
“Really,” I murmured. “Believe me, it’ll be worth it.” Then I turned my eyes to my chauffeur, already in the front seat and ready to take us to our destination. “Let’s go.”
Within ten minutes—partially because of his good driving and partially because I’d chosen a place close enough to our apartment to be extremely convenient—we were there. I helped Bella out of the car, being very careful to take her up the step onto the sidewalk myself, and then turned and looked up at the building. It was a gorgeous, old-fashioned one. One of those imposing brick numbers that had been turned into an office building.
It was perfect. I couldn’t wait for her to see it. But the outside was going to have to wait.
I walked her through the front door and into the elevator and hit the button for the fourth floor. It was the top floor, because I only wanted the best for my girl. When the elevator dinged and the door opened, I grinned to myself.
I’d asked my assistant to have it decorated. I hadn’t seen it since she’d organized that, though. The entire floor was divided into four sections: a sitting area, with couches and armchairs; a conference area with a big, dark wood table; and two separate work areas. For the associates.
Bella’s office was at the end of the floor. I’d picked out her desk myself. And that was where I took her now, guiding her carefully through the space to the large office—with the enormous desk—that I’d secured for her. For her very own practice.
I took her to stand in front of the window, then adjusted my own position to the one I had planned.
When I was ready, I took a deep breath and then said, “Okay, you can take the blindfold off.”
When she did, she found me on knees in front of her, holding up the engagement ring I’d bought eight months ago. When I first knew that I wanted to marry her and keep her forever.
Her eyes widened in surprise, then shot around the space, widened again, and came back to me, her lips a perfect ‘O’ of shock.
“Bells,” I said quietly. “I wasn’t looking for you. When we got into this whole thing, I never thought it would turn out to be anything more than… a mistake. But then life happened. And you happened. I can’t get you out of my head, and I never want to. I want you to have your own practice. I want us to raise our babies together. And I want us to spend the rest of our lives enjoying it all. Please say you’ll marry me.”
She brought her hands up under her chin, all big, laughing eyes and gorgeous cheekbones, her eyes shining with the tears that were threatening to fall.
Then she was on her knees with me, throwing her arms around my neck and holding me so tight that I didn’t think she’d ever let go.
“Yes,” she whispered against my ear. “Yes, yes, yes!”

His Hush-Hush Baby
Chapter 1
Diane
Standing back from the eight-foot outline, Diane planted her hands on her hips and scrutinized her work. It was her first day bringing to life her newest mural, and her biggest job to date.
“Look at that,” a familiar voice said behind her.
She turned to find the owner of Johansen Design, her boss Trevor Johansen—the man who also happened to be her dad.
“I didn’t know you were stopping by,” she said brightly. She tucked her loose hair behind her ears. Where had that darn ponytail holder gotten to?
“I just had a progress meeting over at the hair salon project, so I figured I’d stop in
