wanted to charge that fucker and feed him to the wolf.

“You were back terrorizing kids on the slopes. Pushing them down. You laughed as they rolled into innocent bystanders. It was time I taught you a lesson. Vino grabbed your girlfriend and brought her along. I kicked you down the steepest slope toward a forest.”

“It felt like I was in a moving car. I knew I was about to die. I shitted all over myself. You ruined my life, asshole.”

“You never hit the trees Barker because my brothers held the plywood board steady. You crashed into the board. We just wanted to teach you a lesson. What you did was wrong.”

“You embarrassed me; you trailer park bastard.”

“And you were a bully. You’ve made your point. Let her go.”

“No.” He pointed the gun at me.

Hope slammed the heel of her foot into his balls. She slipped out of his grip as he squeezed the trigger. The shot rang in the air, echoing around us. I hit the ground, barely dodging the bullet.

“Stay the fuck down,” Vino roared, pointing his gun at Barker.

I grabbed the Glock from my holster. “Drop the weapon, Barker.”

He shook his head. I fired a shot. The bullet slammed into his forehead. I hopped up and kicked the gun out of his lifeless grip.

“Don’t touch his gun, Noah. We’ll take it from here.”

Hope left Vino and ran into my arms.

Vino’s men flooded the backyard.

I placed my Glock in my holster. “Hope, are you ok?”

“Now I am.”

I kissed her head a thousand times. “It’s over, Hope.”

Her body quaked in my arms.

“Thank God.”

EPILOGUE

NOAH

Christmas day was officially here.

Hope sat in front of the tree smiling from ear to ear, dressed in that Godforsaken Santa robe.

“Open your present, Noah.”

Sitting on the floor across from her, I held the box in my lap. “You didn’t have to get me anything. The flannel shirts were enough.”

Thanks to my cousin Vino, Barker was at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. Never to be seen again. Hope didn’t sleep well the first two nights. I had to fuck her to sleep. A win for me.

I had no remorse. I was elated the asshole was dead. He got off easy. I wanted to torture him for hurting my woman. Hope’s face was healing. There was some light bruising around her jaw. She was still absolutely stunning.

So far, Vino hadn’t made a move on Claire. I knew my cousin it was just a matter of time.

“Noah, our cabins look amazing all because of you.

This present is just a small token of my appreciation.”

She slapped her palm on the wooden floor.

“Baby, open it.”

I untied the big red bow wrapped around the green box.

Removing the top, I peeked at her.

“Keep going.”

I peeled the tissue paper back. And my eyes grew in size.

“Fuck no. There’s no way I will ever wear this.”

“Read it then hold it up.” She had her camera ready.

It was a black sweater with a big red bow at the bottom and green and red writing all over it. “This can’t be happening.”

“Read it, Noah,” my beautiful woman growled.

It read. “Kiss me under the Mistletoe.”

She clapped her hands over her head, then snapped the pic.

“You have to wear it today, Noah.”

A tight grin framed my lips. “I thought I had until next year.”

Her eyes narrowed, and she leaned in. “No, we’re a couple this year, Noah. The tradition starts now.”

I gripped her neck and crushed her lips.

“All right, baby. I’ll wear it.”

The truth was, if she asked me to wear an ugly sweater every day, I’d do it to please her. That was how much I loved Hope.

“Open the little box next to the big one.”

Her mouth fell open. “Nope, I won’t do it.”

“Yes, you will. Now Hope.”

She exhaled, then tore the red wrapping off the gold box.

Hope opened it and peeked inside. Her hand flew over her chest.

“Aww, this is so sweet. A house key. Thank you, Noah. I love you.”

“Love you too. And in a couple of weeks, you’ll open the door to our home.”

“I can’t believe this is happening.”

My lips took hers again.

“You’re moving to Aspen, baby.”

“Merry Christmas, Noah.”

“And Merry Christmas to you, Hope.”

**P**

“Noah, where are we going?”

I held her hand and clutched the snowboards under my arm as I guided her to the top of the slope.

“Is this how we’re bringing in the new year, snowboarding?”

“Yes. I’d rather be out here having fun with you than watching the ball drop on TV.”

Later Christmas day, I spoke to her dad on FaceTime for half an
