over my chest.

Hope pulled back. She batted those long lashes over her beautiful eyes. “You know what I want later?”

“I do. And I’ll give it to you. Have a seat.”

She couldn’t get enough of my cock. I loved how she craved me. It was a fucking turn on.

After retrieving our plates from the microwave, I sat beside her. “Tell me how you truly feel about the permanent security detail.”

She chomped on a carrot. “I travel the world for work. Now a bodyguard has to go everywhere I do?”

“In Aspen, your detail might park nearby while you shop. They wouldn’t have to walk beside you.”

She sighed. “That makes me feel better.”

I chewed a sliver of rosemary chicken.

“Hope, there was a reason I didn’t want you to meet my cousin.”

“Why?”

“You’re a journalist. And Vino doesn’t talk to reporters. Ever.”

“Why is he a white-collar criminal?” she laughed.

Stone faced, I stared at her. “This is serious. If you say one word to anyone, they’ll kill us. I say us because they’ll have to go through me to get to you.”

Hope dropped her fork, and it clanked against the plate.

Her jaw slacked. “Who would want to kill me just because I know who they are? You make your cousin sound like a gangster.”

Shit.

“Noah, is he a drug dealer?”

“Not exactly.”

“My cousin is the alleged crime boss of the Jersey Romano crime family.”

The bodyguards swept my cabin for bugs. That was the only reason I could speak freely.

Her hand flew over her mouth. She fled her chair and paced the floor.

“You could have hired another security company to guard us, Noah.”

“Actually, I couldn’t.” I grabbed Hope’s hand and led her back to her seat.

“Barker said he’d force my hand if I didn’t tell the world I stole his recipe. Which I didn’t. I developed my brew.”

She placed her hand on my bearded face. “Noah, I believe you. Continue.”

“Thanks, babe.” I caressed her thigh. “So my brothers communicated with the managers at Canyon plants. There weren’t any problems. Vino had his men locate Barker. They didn’t have to look far. He hadn’t left town. I don’t know what he’s up to.”

“Do you think he’ll harm me?”

“I don’t know, but he’ll have to go through me.”

“Let me look into this guy. Why is he threatened by you? He’s rich, right?”

“Yup.”

Her eyes widened as she scrolled through pictures of him on the internet.

“Noah!”

“What’s wrong?”

She turned her phone and pointed at the screen. “This is Lewis Barker?”

“Yeah.”

“The redheaded guy who spoke to me in the outfitter store looked like him.”

Hope ran her hand over her face. “Why did he speak to me today?”

“I don’t know what that fuckers up to. The reason I asked my cousin for help.” I paused.

“Let’s just say he has a unique skill set. Hope, what I’m trying to say...”

“...you plan to make him go away.” Her forehead creased. “Forever.”

I ran a hand over my head. “Yes. He might try to kidnap you to force my hand.”

“Oh, God.” She shook her head. Then her head popped up.

“Noah, your cousin likes my sister.”

“Yes, I know.”

“I can’t warn her either.”

“I’ll talk to Vino. Ask him to leave your sister alone.”

“If he’s like you, he won’t stop.”

And she was right. Fuck!

Standing beside Hope in her new state-of-the-art kitchen, she beamed as we pushed the cookie cutters into the dough, forming little gingerbread men.

“Why are we making so many cookies? I can put away a dozen of the sugar cookies.” I pointed to the tray on the back counter. “But I’ve never been a fan of gingerbread cookies.”

My eyes fell over her ridiculous red, white and brown holiday apron. Little gingerbread men danced all over the frilly material. Claire sent it earlier this week. Along with a few new Christmas sweaters. Thank goodness Christmas would be here in seven days. Then she’d pack the ugly ass sweaters away until next Christmas.

“The extra cookies are for the children in town. We’ll decorate ours and leave the others plain. The kids are having a cookie decorating contest tomorrow. It’s a nice Saturday activity for the children.”

My brows rose. “They still have that contest, huh? My brothers and I took part in the contest every year until Nana died. It was fun.”

“One day our kids will take part in the same contest.”

I arched a brow. “When do you think that will happen? In two years?”

Hope blushed. “I don’t know.”

“We’ve fucked every day. There’s a chance you could be pregnant.”

A wide smile crossed her beautiful lips. “No, Noah. We’re waiting.”

I threw my arms up. “Shit,
