rustle as they hit the floor, and clenched his teeth, hating himself for the thrill that washed over him. “Okay,” Janice said, her voice barely a whisper. “You can turn around now.”
When he turned around the site that greeted him took his breath away, but he managed to drag his eyes away from Janice, grabbed her clothes, the bag she’d been carrying, and stuffed them both under the bed. Looking around the room, he realized that he’d missed something and pulled her bag back out from under the bed.
“Please tell me you packed something to sleep in,” he said, riffling through it until his hand found something soft and silky.
Holing up the silky gown, he looked over at Janice and raised his eyebrows. “It’s pretty,” she said, a blush spreading across her cheeks.
When he grabbed it at the bodice and pulled, the gown ripped and Janice gasped. “Oh, why did you do that?” she asked, looking on the floor where he’d dropped it.
He grinned at her. “The throes of passion and all that,” he said, then started taking off his shirt.
The blush on Janice’s cheeks darkened and she quickly looked away when he dropped his shirt on the floor, then followed it with his pants. After taking one last look around the room, he grabbed his robe from the bathroom and laid it over a chair, then slid into bed with Janice. She slid away from him, but he pulled her into his arms, the feel of her naked skin on his sending thrill after thrill washing over him.
“This has to look convincing,” he said, his mouth just inches from hers. “In just a moment, they’re going to come charging through that door, so I’m going to kiss you.”

Reggie’s slightly breathless words, the feel of his naked skin against hers and the pressure of his arms wrapped around her made everything around her fade. She could no longer hear the pounding footsteps out in the hallway, the cries of the guards as they searched the rooms, or Philip’s booming voice. When his lips came down on hers, warm and soft, her arms went around his neck as long denied desire flared to life deep inside her, overwhelming her and making her tremble.
A low moan came from somewhere deep in her chest, and her nipples hardened against Reggie’s chest, making him groan and deepen the kiss. Parting her lips with his tongue before sliding it into her mouth, he toyed with her, tasting and teasing until she was desperate for more. But the door slamming open against the wall brought her suddenly to her senses as two men came striding into the room.
“She’s in here,” one of them called over his shoulder, then stood in the middle of the room grinning at them.
Reggie jumped out of bed, his arousal more than clear to all of them, making her blush and pull the sheets up to her chin. “What the hell are you doing bursting in here like this?” he roared, grabbing his robe and putting it on.
The smile disappeared from the guard’s face, and for a moment, he looked uncertain, but then he squared his shoulders, lifted his chin, and said, “I’m under orders from your father; we’re supposed to search every room.”
“And do those orders also include standing there gawking like an idiot?” Reggie barked, backing him out of the room. “You’ve done your job, now move on.”
Janice felt her cheeks flaming, but her embarrassment grew even worse when Philip and her father came striding into the room, pushing Reggie back over to the bed. He sat down next to her, but his eyes never left the two men standing in the middle of the room studying them. Philip looked over at the two wine glasses on the table, down at the pile of clothing on the floor, then picked up the torn nightgown and held it up.
He dropped it back to the ground, then looked over at her father. “Why do I feel like they’re making this much too easy on us?” he asked, an evil grin spreading across his face.
Her father laughed. “Doesn’t matter how or why. Let’s just celebrate,” he said.
Philip slapped him on the back, then turned to them. “I’ll let you two get on with what you were doing,” he said.
As they walked out of the room, her dad leaned over to Philip and said, “I think there’s still time tonight to wire that money into my account. No sense in waiting now. It’s been
