When Dakota had to have a frozen waffle topped off with cherry sauce for breakfast instead of syrup, she slammed her utensils down onto the table. She needed more food, and it needed to actually taste good, or she wouldn’t be responsible for her actions.
“I am going to the market. This tastes like ass.” She turned in her seat and caught Bennett’s eyes. “You’re coming with me. We’re going to hit the farmer’s market. It’s about five minutes from here. That way, we don’t have to go all the way into town to get some food to feed you savages.”
“I take offense to that,” Stuart said as he bit into the last waffle. He had been the one who had emptied the syrup jar, and Dakota still hadn’t forgiven him for that. If she ever would.
“Grab your coat and your wallet, Ben.” She kissed the top of his head and went to their bedroom, where she changed into her lucky jeans and a cute pink top that was cut low enough to make sure Bennett’s eyes never strayed.

“There will never be a quickie between us, love.” His words sounded like a vow, but she didn’t mind.
She gave him a big, bright smile. “If I wasn’t so hungry, you would have been proved wrong just now. That sounded like a dare. One I will gladly beat just as soon as I have eaten proper food.”
He backed her up against the wall and framed her into his arms. Dakota held her breath because she didn’t know what he intended to do, but she knew it would be good.
With painstaking slowness, Bennett leaned down and kissed her cheek, along her jaw, down her neck. They got to the market uneventfully and were soon walking through stands of fresh fruit and vegetables. Bennett pulled her into his arms, caging her with a stand of spices at her back.
“What are you doing?” She asked.
He grinned and his eyes flashed gold. Then he kissed her and she lost herself for a moment. The sound a clearing throat made
