Bennett - Milly Taiden Page 0,17
pulled away.
The three other men watched them, stunned by Dakota’s words.
To be fair, Bennett looked just as surprised. His body was angled toward her, a clear sign that he had been into the embrace just as much as she had been. His hand gripped her thigh under the table, and Dakota laid her own hand on top of his. She gave it a tight squeeze with a smile from the side of her lips.
“Let’s back to the game, shall we?” she asked sweetly. She was about to destroy them at a game they had been playing for years.
That would be the only revenge that would befit the crime the three men had dished out.
Thankfully, Bennett caught on to what she was trying to do. It was like they had wordlessly communicated a plan. Dakota knew that mates had an intensely deep connection that made communicating that much easier. It made her slightly giddy.
Especially when she blocked one of Vance’s major attacks, only to throw it back at him tenfold. The man grumbled and griped like a petulant twelve-year-old.
“That’s what I get for angering the master of ceremonies in the middle of a game.”
“That’s right,” Dakota chided with a smile. “Now, give me your magical staff and all of your gold.”
Reluctantly, Vance relinquished the cards. “I’m going to have a hell of a time trying to get those back, aren’t I?” he asked.
“Yup. Maybe you can win them back next time. Shall we say next Friday at seven?”
“You want to play again?” Bennett seemed surprised.
She shrugged. “Of course. Why not? I had a good time. Only, next time, we’re going to have Chinese food. I am dying for some sesame chicken right now.”
The group began clearing away the game, and they moved to the kitchen. The five of them were able to get everything squared away in no time. It was only just one in the morning when their guests left. Bennett waved at their car before closing the front door. Dakota activated the security system.
“I’ll go do a perimeter check. You go on to bed.”
She shifted into her tigress and ran a few laps around the property. There was no sign of anything suspicious.
When she headed back inside, she was surprised to see Bennett was waiting for her in the entryway.
“You didn’t have to do that.” Bennett swallowed hard. “You didn’t have to kiss me. In front of the guys, I mean.”
Dakota was confused, and she pulled a face. “You didn’t like my kiss?” The edge of hurt in her voice was clear.
Bennett blushed. “What? No! I loved it. I just meant…” He closed his eyes and shook his head. “I just mean that you didn’t have to.”
“I know I didn’t have to. I wanted to.”
His eyes snapped opened, understanding burning bright in the blue depth. Dakota didn’t know how he would react to the realization that she had kissed him out of interest and not pity.
But she sure as shit didn’t expect Bennett to toss his glasses onto the table and grab her by the waist with one hand while his other went up to cup her cheek. He tipped her head back, and his eyes caught hers for a second before he lowered his mouth to hers.
The second his lips landed on hers, Dakota melted away on a sea of perfect desire. The man knew how to move his lips. He dipped his tongue in ever so slightly, just enough to tease her. To make her want more. To make her moan for everything he had to give. She clawed at the collar of his shirt, wanted to be impossibly closer.
The kiss was everything.
It was pure and delicious. Dakota never wanted it to end. She let her fingers climb up his shoulders to tangle in his black curls. Her nails raked across his scalp, and he growled into her mouth. Her pussy clenched at the sound of it. Bennett was making her wild, and she was making him just as animalistic. His hand left her cheek and traveled down to squeeze the globe of her ass. The gesture pinned her to him. The long, thick length of his erection pressed against her, and she tried to move against it. She was seconds away from cupping his cock.
With a rumbling pant, Bennett broke the kiss.
His cheeks were heated, and his breath was labored.
“Goodnight, Dakota.” His voice was low with lust. “I’ll see you in the morning.”
He bent down again and placed a soft, sweet kiss to her swollen lips.
