A bullet was too good for these motherfuckers anyway.
I wanted them to die slowly, painfully, to know exactly what had happened to them and why.
“I don’t think he can hear her,” the grey-haired guy said, grabbing Winter and dragging her against him as he pawed at her torn shirt.
“So what do you suggest, Orville?” Duke snarled, his upper lip curling over his horseshoe moustache, never once lowering his weapon as he kept it aimed at the shaft where he expected me to appear.
“I say I really make her scream,” Orville replied, yanking on her shirt and ripping it off of one shoulder so that her breast was exposed.
Winter shrieked in disgust, thrashing and flailing so violently that she managed to break free of him.
She ran for the exit, yanking her shirt back up to cover herself as she sprinted away and I made it to the end of the aisle I’d been stalking along.
Duke fired a warning shot over her head which echoed so fucking loudly in the confined space that it felt like my eardrums might start bleeding. A low rumble sounded through the mines in response to the sound and a shiver ran through my veins as I half expected the roof to cave in.
Winter ducked with her hands over her head and Orville collided with her a moment later, taking her to the ground.
I leapt out of my cover as Duke lowered his gun, slamming into him from behind and driving my knife straight into his kidney.
He screamed like a stuck pig, blood splattering the cave walls as I ripped the blade free and swung at him again. But he was fast, throwing an elbow into my ribs and driving his foot down on my instep even as he bellowed in agony.
He knocked my aim aside and whirled around, raising his gun towards me.
I tackled him with a cry of hatred, knocking him to the ground just as he fired, deafening us all again as the shot went wide over my head.
Stone crumbled from the cave roof above us and a deep rumble trembled through the mine like the whole thing might fucking collapse on us at any minute. These abandoned gold mines were old and I wouldn’t have been surprised if that did happen. I’d known more than one of them to cave in lower down the mountain during my time living up here.
“Why the fuck are you messing in our affairs, mountain man?” Duke yelled as he fought to get the gun between us, managing to avoid the swing of my blade.
I dropped my knife and grabbed Duke’s rifle between my hands as I tried to wrestle it away from him. He fought wildly, cursing me as he scrambled to pull the trigger again, but I ripped it out of his arms before he could and slammed it down on his temple hard enough to knock him out.
I swung around at the sound of movement behind me, finding Farley levelling a pistol at me and making my heart leap with panic.
He fired the shot as I tried to dive away, the bullet grazing my thigh and sending pain splintering through my flesh.
I swung Duke’s rifle up between us and pulled the trigger before he could fire again, catching him in the side and sending him crashing back into the wall behind him.
I snatched my hunting knife back into my grip as that terrifying rumble sounded through the mines once more, afraid that if I kept firing with the rifle I’d bring the whole thing down on top of us.
Winter screamed as she fought against Orville who had her pinned beneath him on the rocky ground.
I scrambled to my feet, racing towards them and kicking him in the side hard enough to break ribs.
He fell off of her with a curse and I was on him in a moment, stabbing him straight in the dick before I took aim for anything more life threatening. No motherfucker was going to get away with trying to assault my girl like that.
Orville screamed as I pinned him beneath me and drove the blade into his chest, putting him out of his misery far too fucking easily for my liking, but having little choice while the fight still raged.
A solid weight collided with me and I hit the ground hard, rolling over beneath the huge body and losing my knife in the process.
I slammed down onto my back and cursed as Farley wrapped his hands around my throat, tightening
