So our attempt to hide our involvement in the deaths of so many Dominguez Cartel men hadn’t worked. Someone knew it was us and that someone had told the head of one of the most dangerous cartels in Mexico that we had something belonging to him too.
Hence our ever strengthening bond with the Santiago Cartel. We were fairly confident in our own abilities to defend ourselves against the Dominguez Cartel in our home city, but like the old saying went, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. And if there was a war coming to Sinners Bay then we wanted to face it head on with our allies at our sides.
I let out a long breath as I banished my concerns about the Dominguez Cartel in favour of focusing on the beautiful creature I had in my arms. We had two entire weeks to ourselves starting right now and I intended to start it off with a bang.
“I was hoping this blindfold would equal something kinky, orso,” Winter said to me, using the fucking nickname that my brothers had given me again, though I had to admit in her seductive tones I didn’t mind it quite so much.
Orso, or bear in Italian was their way of not so subtly pointing out when I was being overprotective. It was a warning which I was begrudgingly learning to heed because the last time they’d decided I’d gone too far in trying to keep Winter for myself, Sloan had taken her for a night out at a fucking strip club and had sent me pictures of the two of them swinging around a pole like it was a Christmas tree and they were Santa’s little elves. Luckily they’d decided that doing it while fully dressed got their message across clearly enough, but it had made their damn point. Though I swear the two of them still made a special effort to drive me insane with Winter’s choice of clothes every single time we went out.
“I guess it depends on what your idea of kinky is, baby doll,” I replied, smirking to myself as I set her down on her feet and moved to stand behind her.
”After two weeks all by myself in that big house, you’d better believe I want kinky,” she purred, folding her arms over the beautiful navy satin dress she wore against the chill of the breeze as she waited for the big reveal.
I laughed in a way that let her know I fully intended to see to her needs as soon as possible, then tugged at the knot in the silk to remove the blindfold from her eyes.
Winter sucked in a sharp breath, her hands covering her mouth as she stared at the log cabin which I’d had built especially for her. It had enough elements of the one where we’d once lived on the side of that mountain to be familiar, but I’d gone for more than a few upgrades as well.
There was a long porch with a swing sweat and chiminea already crackling with flames beside it, a thick grey blanket and even a guitar awaiting us as I’d requested. The wooden structure was built with a similar design but on a larger scale to the original. Inside, all of the furniture was new and I’d selected things with enough resemblance to those we’d once had that I knew it would draw up all of those memories. A king sized bed still dominated the central room with a roaring fire blazing in the stone fireplace and a couch a thousand times more comfortable than the one I’d spent nights sleeping on. It was the same but different. A whole new place to call our own while keeping the memories of our first few weeks together alive in its design.
In addition to that, I’d made sure this place had all the modern fixtures alongside a generator more than capable of running everything so that we could be comfortable out here whenever we wanted to escape the world. There was a huge claw foot bathtub awaiting us in the bathroom and I’d had the fridge stocked with as much food as we could eat, including an extra block of cheese in case she wanted to play savage for me again.
“Nicoli...” Winter breathed, her voice raw with emotion as she just stared at the cabin, not noticing as I backed away from her and dropped to one knee.
