shoved them all the way down and tossed them onto the floor.
His pants had barely hit the carpet when he yanked my dress over my head and tossed it aside. Without skipping a beat, he went for my undergarments even as I went for his.
When at last we were both naked, I climbed on top of him with all of the pent-up eagerness I'd been feeling all night.
I straddled his hips and reached between us, stroking his massive erection, savoring the feel of him and the sound of him as he responded to my touch.
By now, I was literally aching with need. I wanted him inside me, and I didn’t want to wait.
From the look in his eyes, neither did he. His hands caressed my hips and stroked my sides, making me shiver with warm anticipation as I positioned his erection at my opening, and then finally, blissfully, lowered myself onto his length, making both of us moan in sweet satisfaction as he filled me completely.
And then, I rode him with all the wild abandon of someone who'd been deprived for far too long.
Because I had been deprived – of him, of his body, of his kisses and his company.
I loved him.
And he loved me.
As our hips moved in harmony, I couldn’t stop marveling at his perfect face, his perfect body, and the perfect happiness I felt in my heart as we climaxed at nearly the same time.
Afterward, he pulled me close and cradled me tight against him as our breathing returned to normal, and something like sanity returned.
Into my ear, he whispered, "You're the sweetest thing I've ever known."
"So are you."
He chuckled into my hair. "Yeah, right."
"It's true," I laughed.
His tone grew teasing. "I’m glad you think so."
I did think so. In fact, I knew, so.
And eventually, I decided, so would he.
Chapter 62
Cami
The next day, Mason surprised me yet again by not only escorting me back to my parent's place but actually staying to visit, much to the delight of my family, who were still more than a little star-struck.
But Mason, to his credit, was a terrific sport about the whole thing, even when the crowd at our house grew to nearly forty people, consisting of neighbors, relatives, and fans of the show.
Afterward, rather than returning to Mason's hotel suite, we spent New Year's night in my old bedroom, where we actually behaved ourselves.
Mostly.
On January 2nd, the day I was scheduled to return to work, I rode back with Mason rather than returning alone.
With Mason behind the wheel, we traveled in Arden's SUV, leaving Mason's own vehicle in Petoskey to be picked up later by heaven-knows-who.
An hour into our drive, I couldn't help but say, "I've got a question."
He smiled in profile. "Oh yeah? What's that?"
"What changed your mind?"
"About what?" he asked.
"About everything," I said. "Love, family…" I snickered. "The tie."
"About the tie, there was nothing to change." He laughed. "Well, other than getting it from Chase."
"But you never finished telling me," I said. "What happened with that, anyway?"
"I'll tell you what. The lunk-blaster tried to steal it."
I laughed. "No way."
"Believe it," he said. "I had to wrestle it away from him."
I was finding this hard to believe. One thing about Chase, he was a very smart dresser. But that tie? It was truly atrocious, even with a dead battery. "You're joking."
"No joke," Mason said. "But this time, Chase has the black eye."
My laughter faded. "Oh, my God. "You didn't seriously hit him, did you?"
"Me? Nah." Mason shrugged behind the wheel. "He bumped it when the couch tipped over."
"But wait, why would the couch tip over?"
"Because Chase didn't want to give it up."
I just had to tease him. "The couch?"
"No," he laughed. "The tie. And I know what you did there."
I smiled. "Oh yeah? What's that?"
"You're messing with me." He grinned. "And you know what?"
"What?"
"I think I like it."
As I gazed at him from the passenger's seat, I couldn’t help but marvel at his easy demeanor. With mock suspicion, I said, "Who are you, and what have you done with Mason Blastoviak?"
"Me? I didn't do anything." With a smile, he said, "It was all you – with some help from your friend."
"You mean Livia?" This was the obvious guess. In the ladies room, Livia had also confessed that she'd invited me out for New Year's Eve as a special favor to Mason, who'd been determined to surprise me.
And boy, had he succeeded.
Livia, too.
I smiled with fondness for both of them. Even with their quirks, life was so much better
