his bare chest, and he groaned when she intentionally brushed over his nipples.
Relief only seemed to spur the sudden lust that hit, and I smiled at his groan. I bent my head, running my tongue roughly over the now hard nipples and felt my own stiffen when he groaned again. Alek tipped me back onto the bed and forced his mouth on mine. I could feel my energy rising and as I watched he began to resonate gold. Alek pulled back and gave me a sexy smile, his eyes dark and passionate. I reached to pull him back down, when there was a heavy knock on the door.
It was a most effective way to kill any passionate mood. Our eyes met, wide with shock, and we leaped apart as everyone charged through the door again.
That was the end of any possible encounter for the time being. With smug expressions on their faces the others rounded us up and out of the room. I was dragged off to the Elemental Quarters with Elena and the girls, and Alek in the opposite direction with Yakov and the guys. It seemed my state duties were about to begin.

'Cat. Pay attention.'
Loushka's voice made me jolt awake, and more than one Council member frowned.
'Thanks.'
I struggled to catch up with the conversation until Loushka hissed some points. Once again, I was supremely grateful that the Council Chambers were next to an external wall. On the other side of the wall sat Loushka, listening to the conversation via my mind, and helping me to keep up with it and respond appropriately. I always hated meetings on Earth. Normally Alek and Sabyn would attend these meetings, but the guys were off investigating an attack on a village, so I was required to step in.
The two weeks after Alek woke had been the busiest of my life, even compared to the month's training prior to the ball.
A pang of envy hit. The girls were so lucky. While I was stuck in this large, grand and stuffy room, listening to land complaints and international and national politics, the girls got to have weapons training. Artama was instructing today, so it would be bows and throwing weapons. I'd get my turn after this meeting, and before yet another formal dinner with heads of state from one realm or another.
All in all, the news that I was the rightful heir had been taken well. My betrothal to Alek was announced at the same time. Yes, the throne might be my birthright, but the citizens of this realm hadn't offered any protest once they learned Alek was still a legitimate heir. It was just more convenient, if that were possible. Except for maybe Loi, who was still giving me the cold shoulder. As much as I would like to have sorted it out, I didn't have the time. Sabyn was aware of the situation and felt that time would be the best solution, so I left him in charge of that.
Sabyn. I felt an odd flush of joy when I thought of him. He was family, actual family. I only had one cousin on Earth, and I knew that Sabyn had sisters. There were other cousins too, on my mother's side, that I had yet to meet. That brought to mind children and I shuddered.
Apparently reproducing would be a big deal.
My rational voice sniggered. Unless it's an immaculate conception, they're going to have to arrange for you and Alek to be left alone for longer than five minutes for anything to happen.
My silly voice however, went into hysterics at the thought of offspring. It had never, ever, been on the cards for me. Sure, I loved kids, but I loved giving them back. Being a parent? As much as I wanted to get Alek in the sack, the thought of kids made me cross my legs and wince. No thanks. Also the timing, if it was ever to happen it had to be after Jenviet was dead.
'Catherine.' Loushka's voice broke through all my internal ramblings.
'Please pay attention. They will talk to you about all this at dinner.'
Oh crap, that was very true. Resisting the urge to yawn, I tuned back in.
Sian stood in the late Queen's chamber and frowned over the dresses before her. The wardrobe was an entire room, as large as the Elemental Quarters, and it was stuffed full of opulent dresses which Cat had inherited, and was now expected to wear.
The major issue being, of course, that Cat hates dresses,
