back and let out a frustrated groan.
I can’t get Mila out of my mind, and it’s driving me crazy. Seeing her with Justin on Monday almost made me lose my shit.
You know what that means… right?
I close my eyes as I admit I do have more than just friendly feelings for Mila.
A lot more.
My heart begins to beat faster as I allow myself to accept the truth.
So? What are you going to do about it?
MILA
This week has been exhausting, and honestly, I just want to crawl under my covers and sleep, but instead, I’m getting ready with Jade so we can attend Nate’s party.
I haven’t seen much of Jase, and it’s helped a little. I don’t feel like I have to walk around on eggshells.
“A penny for your thoughts,” Jade says as she reaches past me for some lipgloss.
“I’m just tired.”
“You’ve been tired a lot lately. Is everything okay?”
Needing someone to confide in, I admit, “I told Jase I love him.”
Shock ripples over Jade’s face. “When did this happen? What did he say?”
“Last week, and we’re sticking to just being friends,” I give my cousin the short version.
Jade sits down on my bed. “Are you okay?”
I shrug. “I wish I never told him, but it’s done, so I have to move on.”
“With Justin?”
I shake my head. “No, he’s just a friend. I’m in no hurry to date.”
Jade nods then proceeds to put on her boots.
Fallon comes into my room, and the second I see the dress in her hands, I begin to shake my head.
“Please, I don’t want to be the only one wearing a dress,” Fallon begs.
I can never say no to Fallon, and getting up, I take the black dress from her. “The things I do for you.”
“It’s because you love me,” she teases.
“Yeah, as long as you know that.” I strip out of the jeans and shirt I was going to wear and slip on the dress. It’s tight-fitting and practically becomes one with my curves.
Fallon’s eyes glide over me, then she rushes from the room. A couple of seconds later, she’s back with a pair of heels. “Nothing like a pair of Louboutin’s to round off an outfit.”
I grin at her as I take the heels, and stepping into them, Fallon gives me an approving look. “My work here is done.”
I let out a chuckle as I go to pick up my purse. I slip my phone into it, then turn to Jade. “You ready?”
She rushes over to my dressing table and grabs a bottle of perfume, then comes back and holds it out to me. “So, you smell all pretty as well.”
I squirt some on and place the bottle back on the table.
“Are we going or not?” Jase yells from the front of the suite.
Jade rolls her eyes. “Let’s go.”
I take my phone from my purse and pretend to check something as I follow behind her. I should suck it up and act like nothing happened, but it’s still too hard, so instead, I find ways to avoid Jase.
We leave the suite, and when a hand settles on my lower back, I look up, thinking it’s Noah or Kao, but when I lock eyes with Jase, I instantly feel flustered.
“Just wanted to say you look beautiful.”
My first thought is that Jase never walks at the back, but always with Hunter, Fallon, and Hana at the front. It’s something they’ve always done.
“Ah… thanks.”
Luckily, we don’t have to wait for the elevator, and we all bundle inside. I get stuck next to Jase, and the ride down is torturous as I stand with my whole left side plastered against his.
Deep breaths, Mila.
When we step out of the confined space, I hang back with Kao and Noah. Glancing at my cousin, I ask him, “Where have you been? I haven’t seen much of you.”
Noah grins as he answers, “I’ve been studying my ass off.”
We head out of the dorm, and I let out a burst of laughter. “We both know that’s a lie. You don’t have to study with your damn high IQ. So unfair.”
Noah lets out a chuckle. “I still study, Mila.”
As we approach the cars, the smile drops from my face when I realize Hana and Fallon are riding with Kao and Noah. That leaves me stuck with Jase.
Not wanting Jase to think I planned it, I give him an apologetic smile as he opens the passenger door for me. I slip inside and take another deep breath.
