Addie (Pack of Misfits #1) - Raven Kennedy Page 0,75
Drag texted me the whereabouts of Addie, he ordered us to follow her. So we did. Right back to Pack Aberrant land where we told Alpha Hugo everything, of course. He came up with the plan, and with his direction, we acted as informants to Rockhead, letting them know that Addie and some of her other packmates had come here for the night.
Drag ordered us to wait here while he brought reinforcements in. He’d been practically giddy over the phone when I called to tell him we’d tracked her and a dozen of her packmates here. He’d been thrilled at the thought that he’d be able to take more of them down to teach Addie a lesson.
Fucker.
Their plan is to not only take Addie, but to also rough up the rest of her pack members in the process. Herrick, Lafe, and I have had to deal with listening to what they plan to do to Addie for the past hour. At one point, I had to physically hold Herrick back while Lafe distracted them.
Drag is talking with the last group of Rockhead shifters that just showed up about five minutes ago. One of them is a bear shifter named Jordy. He’s a spindly fuckhead, so unlike his animal, with thin, bony limbs and a weasel-looking face. I dislike him right away, but it really seals the deal when he starts joking with Drag about how Addie deserves everything coming to her.
“Hey, you must be the newbies,” Jordy says, sidling up beside me. Herrick and Lafe’s coyotes step closer with a low growl. Jordy looks at them with amusement. “Coyotes, huh? Don’t have many of those in our pack.”
“Hmm.”
“I hear you’re gonna be a Rockie after this. But you all were in the Moon Pack, so you’ll fit right in. We’re a strong pred pack. You’re about to see a dose of that tonight when we put these weak little freaks in their place.”
It takes all my self-control to keep from cocking a fist and throwing it into his face.
He’s looking at me expectantly, like he’s just waiting for me to laugh with him at Pack Aberrant’s expense. And if I don’t want to blow my cover, that’s what I should do. But I can’t bring myself to do it. When I keep silent, he opens his mouth to say more, but before he can, Lafe lifts his leg and pisses all over Jordy’s boot.
He recoils and moves to kick at Lafe’s coyote, but Lafe dodges him. “What the fuck? Gross, man!”
“Huh. Guess he doesn’t like you much.”
Jordy grimaces at his piss soaked pant leg and shoots the animal a glare. “Fucking coyotes,” he mutters before stalking away.
I look down at Lafe with a smirk. “Real subtle, dude.”
The coyote’s tongue lolls out of his mouth happily.
“Alright, listen up,” Drag announces, making everyone stop and pay attention to him. “I just got the message from Riot. Looks like they’re about to leave, so everyone get in your positions. Let’s fuck them up and remind them why they don’t mess with Pack Rockhead,” he says, excitement thick in his words. Several of the other shifters whoop and clap at his words. “The girl is mine to take. Everyone else, it’s a free for all,” he says with a vicious grin.
Malicious anticipation ripples over the group, and several of the shifted pack members start pacing and growling. Herrick’s coyote snaps at some of them as they go by. He might be smaller than the wolves, but he’s a force to be reckoned with. I once saw him take down a buffalo all on his own.
Drag comes stalking over to stand in front of me. “Good job boys,” he tells us. “You led us right to her. Alpha Rourn is pleased. He might even let you watch Aderyn’s punishment later.”
I clench my fists at my sides and my eye ticks with fury that I try to contain beneath my skin.
When his phone vibrates again, he looks down at it with a grin. “They’re comin’ now.”
Drag just thinks those text messages are from his man, Riot. But really, he’s been texting someone from Aberrant all night. The misfits might not be the strongest physically, but they’re resourceful and smart. They know how to hack, plan, and play to their strengths.
“Get ready,” I mutter to Herrick and Lafe. They both pull up on their haunches, getting ready to spring into action.
I keep my eyes trained on the gamer club across the parking lot with the rest of
