Wolf's Hunger (Mafia Monsters #5) - Atlas Rose Page 0,83
my club this morning, no drive-bys on this side of the river. I glanced at the rear-view mirror again, waiting for a second before I opened the door of the white Ford sedan and crossed the road.
It was a different car every day for me and the pack. We were always moving, always changing, never staying in one spot for too long. Which is why I was here…at the last place Carina had been before she disappeared in the early hours of this morning. But that’d been hours ago now.
You mean the last place she was here with Church? my beast snarled, desperate and aching. Hungry. That’s what he was. He was fucking starving, haunted and hollowed from the inside out. I headed for the back door of the club.
A club that should’ve been thrumming with life, only now it was in total darkness. Headlights of a car parked against the curb further down the road splashed against the wet asphalt before it pulled out and turned around in the empty road, heading away from this side of the river.
My steps stopped as the brake lights flared and the vehicle turned toward the bridge. Something felt wrong. I scanned the darkness and swiveled, my fists rising from my sides. But there was no one behind me, no rogue pack attack…no FBI agents in waiting.
There was nothing but the growl of thunder overhead. Thunder that’d been growing in the early hours of the morning until the storm was a living, breathing, destructive thing.
Rain splattered the side of my head. I turned back and stepped forward, lengthening my stride until I hit the back door of the club and punched in the numbers before the lock clicked open. I caught the faint scent of her still clinging to the air.
Mine, my beast growled, staking his claim.
I ground my teeth as his desperate pants followed, drawing the taste of her deeper into my lungs until her scent crawled under my skin. Jesus, that woman invaded me like no one else. I massaged the tight muscles at the back of my neck, stepped through the open doorway, and went into the back bar.
I walked through the place, moving behind the back of the bar, taking my time as the ache of the familiar cut deep. Memories filtered in. The night I'd found her in the warehouse…and brought her here.
Stick it in, for fuck's sake. Her desperate plea roared to the surface of my mind.
Jesus, she didn’t understand, then…didn’t realize just how much she called my beast. She couldn’t fathom the kind of things he wanted to do to her.
Stick it in? My own reply rose swiftly.
I’d traced that swollen, sensitive nub between her legs before dragging my finger along her center until my beast let out a savage, unmistakable warning and forced my head lower, licking, claiming.
I licked it, my beast had growled between her legs. So it’s mine.
We were happy here, weren’t we? Maybe not happy, but secure, at least. My dancers were all taken care of, all protected by the outlying members of my pack. But for how long? I didn’t know. I followed that seductive scent, all dangerous and feminine as it sent my heart racing. She was the storm that raged above me, violent and controlling.
Christ, I wanted her.
Need her…the beast growled.
I followed her seductive scent, coming back into the present as the light grew brighter outside, stepping up onto the dancer’s podium. She'd been here…with Church. The male had left his marking scent all over here…and over her. I closed my eyes, imagining them together. Kissing, touching, her hand down the front of his pants, and that desperate look in his eyes.
As much as the thought set my teeth on edge, I wanted it just as much.
Wanted her with us.
All of us.
Time slipped away as I stood there. I didn’t know how long I stood there, mesmerized by the fantasy in my head and the knowledge she'd just been there. My phone let out a beep, dragging me back to the moment. I yanked it from my pocket and stared at the message from Elithien.
Meet me at the house. We have a problem.
I let out a groan and turned away from the dancers' lounge and the scent of lust still lingering in the air. “What the fuck now?” I muttered out loud.
We were so close to getting Carina away. I’d secured a facility not far from here, had my men already working on the security. Seven-foot fences equipped with
