Wirth (Dirty Aces MC #5) - Lane Hart Page 0,8

pick up a few things. Do you want to come with me?”

Her question catches me off-guard, just like almost everything else out of her mouth. I cannot fucking figure her out. One minute she’s pissed at me for trying to help her and another she’s inviting me to go shopping with her?

Before I can give her a verbal response, she sighs and says, “Fine. We’ll fuck first, but not upstairs. It’s a disgusting pigsty.” Snatching my hand, she tugs me along behind her toward the door without another word. I’m not sure if I heard her correctly, but I refuse to ask again in case she changes her mind. Before we leave, I do wave my hand in Malcolm’s direction. He barely gives a nod in response before his attention goes back to his woman bouncing frantically on his lap.

In fact, while I was at the bar ordering a bottle of whiskey that was quickly forgotten, it looks like the entire place turned into a goddamn orgy with almost everyone coupled up and getting their freak on.

I can’t deny that I’m in desperate need of a good fuck. And I can already tell that Maeve is going to give me everything I need and more if she doesn’t change her mind again and punch me in the dick first.

Chapter Four

Maeve

“Where are we going?” Wirth asks as I pull him toward the sidewalk.

“To my apartment.”

“Shouldn’t we take my bike?” he asks in a hurry, his voice giving away his urgent need. So much for him ‘just being nice.’ He’s like every other man, only acting the role of a good guy to get laid.

“It’s only two blocks away. We’ll be there in a second,” I reply off-handedly before my conscience gives a twinge. He offered to help fix my car, so it would be pretty messed up if I let his ride get damaged tonight. “You know what, let’s take your bike,” I agree as I abruptly change direction.

There’s a moment of silence, and then he’s jerking on my hand, pulling me to a stop so that I have to face him. “Are you sure about this? You seem a little…wishy-washy.”

He asks the question like it isn’t already a forgone conclusion that he’s going to get lucky.

I don’t have to think about the answer this time. “Yes, I’m sure,” I reply, and it’s actually the truth.

Not once but twice tonight this man has appeared out of thin air and saved me from bullshit. The first time with my car I was annoyed because I thought I had everything under control on my own and didn’t need any help. But the second, well, I’m grateful beyond belief to not only escape Titus, but the bar itself for a little while. Titus is always a selfish lover who thinks he’s so high and mighty that he doesn’t need to reciprocate orgasms.

Wirth continues to stare at my face, watching me closely under the light of one of the streetlamps before he finally says, “Okay. As long as you know that this isn’t a tit for tat.”

“It’s not?” I ask, disappointed to learn he’s not a giver but a taker.

“No. I’ll fix your fucking car either way.”

“Oh. Right,” I mutter when I realize he’s referring to me not needing to pay him back for the car. There’s still hope for mankind in bed, or womankind, as the case may be. “So you said. No strings attached. I’ve got it.”

“I mean it,” he declares.

“I’m sure you do,” I huff with a grin because he just won’t quit trying to be the good guy. “Now, can we please get moving?”

The last I checked it was nearly eleven. The clock is literally ticking. I thought a trip to the store would be the best plan of escape, but this, being with Wirth, will work out even better.

“Fuck yes,” he replies, the desperation in his voice ringing loud and clear.

“That’s what I thought.”

“You take the helmet,” Wirth says, placing it on my head before he straddles his bike, looking sexier than any man has a right to look. “I’ll go slow so you can call out directions.”

“It’s just the apartment complex on the next right, the apartment at the end on the first floor,” I explain, climbing up behind him.

“You live alone?” he asks over his shoulder before cranking the engine.

“Yes. Why?”

“A single woman shouldn’t live on the first level. That’s where thieves break in first,” he explains. And oddly enough, the protective spiel is actually working for me,
