than a human would towards me. I would have chalked it up to being a shifter, but I think it was more than that. I mean, I could feel the attraction tightening between us, and my thighs clenched together at the need that was pulsating through me. I hadn’t been this turned on… well, ever.

“No one,” I wrote quickly, glad it was dark so he couldn’t see the slight dip in my expression.

He offered me an odd look that I didn’t understand before cupping my jaw. “It’s dangerous, especially for a shifter to travel by themselves.”

I froze as my eyes widened realizing that he could tell I was a shifter; I mean hell, I could tell he was one. Being around shifters would totally take some adjusting to. Shrugging, I offered him a curious look.

His lip quirked up, a small dimple appearing, as he wrote on the pad: “What type of shifter are you?”

Lifting the small fox keychain on my backpack, he nodded in realization, smiling even more for some reason. What I was doing to make this man smile so much was beyond me, but I was eating it up.

“Dylan Graves, Beta to the local wolf pack in Willowdale Village,” he offered. It helped me relax a bit at least knowing this man's name.

I met his hand, which seemed redundant since the two of us were literally pressed together, and then wrote out my name, his eyes lighting up on it.

“Colette.” My name was like a purr on his lips as everything inside of me melted.

Sinking against him further while he offered me an earbud. I immediately took it, eager to learn what type of music he liked. Sighed happily as I inhaled his scent, which seemed to cause a small rumble deep in his chest. My eyes closed and fell asleep snuggling a complete stranger…

A stranger who made me feel more comfortable and at home than I ever had.

A stranger that made me feel heard.

I didn’t think I’d ever be able to express to him just how much that meant to me.

To say that today’s revelation had been unexpected, was the understatement of the century. I frowned in concern while looking down at a clearly exhausted Colette curled completely into my side. Something that she had done once falling asleep, the tension and panic from earlier draining from her elegant frame.

I couldn’t tell you exactly why she’d been panicked but the force of her emotions had hit me like a goddamn tidal wave, creating a panicked and aggressive response within myself.

When I’d first gotten on the bus, my mind had been everywhere but the present. It was why I’d been confused when my wolf had perked up and the scent of something unbearably sweet had filled my nose. Hardening my cock to the point that it was almost painful.

I’d narrowed my eyes on a small frame curled up in the back, but dismissed the figure, wondering if maybe I was smelling something that they or the driver had recently eaten. It was that sweet, it literally smelled like fucking candy. Why was I getting hard over the smell of candy?

I’d sat down and attempted to listen to music to clear my head. Well, until panic saturated the air. My wolf had let out a whine of protest and I’d whipped around to find a pair of dark eyes focused on me. Instantly, everything inside of me had frozen and my wolf tried to surge forward, wanting to calm her down. It was very clear that the figure was a woman, her delicate features barely visible in the dark bus.

Why was she so upset? That wasn’t fucking okay with me. Feeling almost sick to my stomach, swallowed and let my magic seep out a bit. Unable to stop myself from wrapping it around her, the tension almost automatically draining from her frame. Relief had flooded my chest as I saw her breathing steady.

I had been a second from going to the woman, needing to be closer to her, when we had made another stop and those human assholes had boarded. I had nearly let out a savage growl as they neared her and when they started talking to her; it was over. I was across the bus and hoping she would come with me before my wolf demanded I threw her over my shoulder or some insane shit.

Luckily, that hadn’t been necessary.

I’d never felt this way in my entire life. Colette. Only Colette could make me feel this
