Voiceless - M. Sinclair Page 0,36
laid down behind me, my body easily lounged between my two sexy Graves brothers, one wolf and one man.
Inhaling softly I tried to explain, “I had lived with my uncle’s skulk until I was around six, young enough that when we moved away from everyone, I’d been confused but just accepted whatever rules my parents had given me. I found out later that my uncle had kicked them out for doing some illegal shit, but that was the last time I’d interacted with the supernatural community.
“I went to a human school and was surrounded by humans all the time. The only time I could shift was late at night in my room so my parents wouldn’t see me… eventually, I got used to it. For a long time, I even tried to subscribe to their bias and hate-filled views but my fox won out and I realized early on that as soon as I could I’d need to get out. I had planned to stay to graduate in a week or so… but then my parents had started talking about betrothals and other bullshit, as I mentioned before, so I left. I guess I hadn’t realized what I was looking for but I’m really glad that I made the choice to leave.”
Hunter nuzzled then licked my arm, making me smile.
Luca nodded pensively and intertwined our fingers, his lips trailing each digit gently. Being around these men almost left me with a surreal experience. While I was still ridiculously turned on, I also felt comforted and loved. Both were new sensations to me compared to how I grew up.
I closed my eyes and leaned back into Hunter realizing that Los Angeles would have never worked out for me. No, I think whether I realized it or not, I was meant to be here. In Willowdale with these men. It had been less than a week and I felt far more at home here than anywhere else in my entire life. I was going to trust that feeling.
I couldn’t tell you when we finally made our way back to the house or when I’d fallen asleep tucked between them. All I knew was that when I opened my eyes in what felt like the middle of the night, I was wide awake and well-rested.
Sitting up in bed I frowned, realizing that I hadn’t even planned on staying more than a night, but here I was on night two. It hadn’t been a discussion, we had just fallen asleep together, and I wasn’t about to ask to go back home. I loved it here.
Luca was snoring softly and Hunter’s breathing was even as he rolled over, gripping a pillow underneath him. They were so handsome even when sleeping it was actually unfair.
I let out a small yawn and slipped from bed wondering where Dylan was; I hoped whatever had been keeping him busy all night wouldn’t mess up his sleep schedule again.
Wrapping a robe around my oversized shirt and leggings, I left the bedroom and made my way towards the direction of the kitchen. I was feeling oddly hungry, and I knew it was from the expended energy of the run, something I loved because it meant my fox was happy and calm.
The kitchen was dimly lit as I entered, but I managed to find my way around easily enough, pulling out a package of pasta and a pot to boil water. Was it the fanciest meal? No… but it would solve the carb craving that I was currently suffering from.
I was focused enough on waiting for the water to boil that when someone entered the kitchen I literally jumped, a small squeak emitting from my throat. My eyes widened on a massive white wolf that trotted in looking suspiciously like Luca even though I knew it wasn’t.
“Dylan?”
The wolf’s large head snapped my way and in a quick movement, his form shifted into my mate. He offered me a playful grin, running a hand through his light hair as he walked over, tugging me against his chest.
“How did you know it was me?” he curiously asked while brushing his nose against mine.
“Luca’s wolf has a similar shade of fur,” I rationalized.
He chuckled and looked over at the food I was making. “Hungry? We should have fed you more at dinner. I’m sorry, baby.”
“I’m not used to shifting so I am more hungry than I was at dinner,” I explained lightly as he hummed in understanding.
Without another word the sexy man walked over to
