UnHinge Me (Savage Beast MC #6) - Hayley Faiman Page 0,83
fucking quickly?” I demand.
She doesn’t move like I expect, obviously not frightened of my anger. She should be. She doesn’t know me well enough to realize what the fuck I’m capable of, and right now, I’m downright capable of murder.
“He’s a friend,” she states.
I shake my head once, unsure of how to process this without murdering a bunch of fucking people and starting a war. Clearing my throat, I lift my hand and run my fingers through my hair.
“A friend,” I repeat slowly.
She licks her lips, her eyes flicking from mine to the ground, then back up to meet mine again.
“Just a friend, unlike whoever the fuck that was in the background when you were gone. And whoever the fuck was the reason you didn’t call me for days and days,” she snaps.
I deserve that, deserve a fuck of a lot more, too. But I won’t say shit. It happened and there’s nothing I can do to change that. If she wants to know, really wants to know, I’ll tell her, but she doesn’t, I know she doesn’t because I sure as fuck don’t want to know what she’s been doing with Dutch.
I’m a sick fucker though. I’m about to force her hand and find out what a friend is to her. If a friend is someone who puts his dick inside of her, he’s about to be a dead fucking friend. Inhaling through my nose, I let out a growl.
LEIGHTON
The look in his eyes, it’s downright terrifying. Even the day he took me, he didn’t scare me. I was nervous, but kind of excited to go with him. Anything to get out of my father’s house was fine by me, I would just deal.
This is different though.
He is downright full of rage.
Gone are the way his gaze dances. His dark orbs are not glittering. They are emotionless, but when I look beyond that, they aren’t just emotionless, they are fucking dead. Maybe I shouldn’t have popped off about the women, but I did and I can’t take it back.
“You want to know all the details? Told you I wouldn’t lie to you and I won’t. I’ll never lie, Leighton. I wouldn’t disrespect you like that, wouldn’t make you feel a fool.”
“It’s too late for that,” I whisper. “I already feel like the biggest fool.”
He doesn’t say anything right away. He takes a step toward me, then another, until his entire body is pressed against mine. Legs to legs, chest to chest, his forehead almost touching mine. He’s breathing heavy, obviously pissed off, but he doesn’t have a right to be.
“You ain’t a fool, mi reina. Don’t say that shit again.”
“What am I then? You walk away, promising that we’re going to be something. You lied. Then as soon as you turn around, as soon as I’m out of sight, then I’m out of mind and you’re fucking whoever, wherever, and contracting whatever. You only wanted me because I was a toy for you to play with while you’re here. You don’t give a fuck about me,” I snap.
His nostrils flare again, his breathing becoming even heavier. “You think I’m playing you?”
“I don’t have to think anything.”
It is the wrong thing to say. The absolute wrong thing to say. I know it as soon as the words leave my lips, but I couldn’t hold them in, I couldn’t even try. They just came out and my eyes widen when he shakes his head once.
Before I realize what’s happening, he lifts his hand. He doesn’t hit me, doesn’t even try. Instead, he wraps his fingers around my neck and starts to squeeze.
“You need to learn to shut the fuck up, babe,” he barks. “I wouldn’t put just some dumb puta in my house. Wouldn’t make a place for you in my life if I thought you would be a good fuck for a night or two.”
His words keep coming, but the blackness that is at the edge of my vision starts to take over as I fight and gasp for air. Just when I think that I’m dead, that my baby is dead, the constriction stops.
Bending over, I inhale a deep breath and cough. I don’t even look up to see where he’s gone, I can’t. I hear a scuffle in the background, fists against flesh, grunting and groaning, but I can’t look.
“Jesus,” a female voice gasps.
Turning, I look up to see the woman that I only met briefly, Della standing to the side, her mouth dropped open in surprise, her
