UnHinge Me (Savage Beast MC #6) - Hayley Faiman Page 0,49

forehead pressing against mine, his eyes closed. I sink my teeth in my bottom lip and let out a shaky breath.

“Just don’t break me, Mountain.”

He grunts. “Wilder Lopez,” he rasps. “You call me Wilder, babe.”

“Don’t break me, Wilder,” I repeat.

He slides his forehead from mine, running his nose alongside my own, but doesn’t make me a single solitary promise, not that I expect him to. He said he would be honest, and empty promises wouldn’t be very honest.

“Get you a drink?” he asks.

I watch as he takes a step back, reaching for the bottle of whiskey next to him. My lips twitch into a small smile, then my gaze flicks over to the girl who for whatever reason has been standing near the U-Haul truck watching us this entire time.

“No, but I think you better deal with her, because she’s been watching us, and although I’m not shy and don’t mind being watched. I do have a problem with bitches and she’s a fucking bitch.”

Mountain blinks, then he laughs as he shakes his head. “You are full of surprises, mi reina. Full of goddamn surprises.”

“Oh, I have a feeling you’re not a stranger to voyeurism, not based off of that girl sucking and fucking in the middle of your bar.”

He lifts his arm, sliding it across my shoulders before he reaches for his whiskey and together, we start to walk toward the exit. I don’t know what they’re unloading from the U-Haul and loading into the other truck, but it’s not my business, so as curious as I am, I don’t even look.

Mountain stops in front of the brunette, turning to me, he touches his lips to my temple. “I’ll be in the bar in a minute, meet me there?”

I itch to say something to the bitch, but I don’t. Instead, I turn to him, touching my mouth to his. “I’ll be there.”

I don’t bother threatening him. There’s no sense in it. He’ll do what he wants and I’ll have to make the decision to stay or not. I’ve lived on my own before, penniless, I can do it again. What I won’t do is be in some shitty ass situation if I don’t have to be.

Chapter Sixteen

MOUNTAIN

Dragon Jerks his chin at me as soon as we walk into the bar. I guide Leighton over to a seat, leaving her there as I make my way toward Dragon. “Gotta talk to you, privately,” he murmurs. His gaze flicks behind me to Leighton, then back to meet my own. “Now.”

He doesn’t say anything else, he turns and walks away from me. Before I follow him, I touch Leighton’s shoulder.

“I’ll be back in a minute,” I offer, then walk away before she can respond in any way.

Dragon is already sitting behind his desk when I make my way into the room. He flicks his gaze to the door and without him having to actually say anything, I close and lock it before I walk over to the chair across from him and sink down, my gaze finding his.

He tilts his head to the side as he lifts his hand and rubs his bearded chin. My knee starts to bounce as I wait for whatever the fuck he’s about to tell me. I hate it when he does this shit. It’s annoying as fuck. He acts like everything is some big dramatic fucking thing.

“Her father set up offshore accounts in her name,” he announces.

My body jerks, my knee stops its movement and I stare at him slack-jawed. Closing my mouth, I shake my head once. “What the fuck does that mean?” I demand.

He presses his lips together in a thin line and shrugs a shoulder. “It means she has more money than ten people could spend in a lifetime,” he says. “Means I told her about it too.”

My stomach sinks. Not that I wanted her to be dependent on me. But I kind of did. I can’t deny that I liked the fact that she thought she couldn’t leave me. That I somehow had this hold over her, one where she couldn’t just turn and walk away from me.

I’ve never had anything of my own, not really, never had a woman give much of a fuck about me and at my age, I liked the idea that I could keep her—maybe even have a life with her, one like my brothers have with their women.

“She doesn’t want it,” he explains.

My eyes flick up to meet his. “She doesn’t want it,” I repeat.
