Twist of Fate (Taking Chances #2) - Tia Louise Page 0,21

I pull the neck of my shirt out. “Black sports bra.”

“How is that different from a bathing suit?” He takes a few steps backwards, still watching me, like he’s taunting me. “Take it off, Daisy Sales.”

“What are you wearing under those?” I nod at his jeans.

“Nothing.”

His eyebrow arches, and it’s difficult to inhale all the way. “Should I close my eyes?”

“Only if you want to.”

My eyes close, and I face the trees as he chuckles. Water splashes, and I hear the sounds of swimming, surfacing, then he calls to me. “You’re safe now.”

Without a doubt, I am not safe.

Turning around, I blink cautiously to see he’s in the water. But the way he’s standing there, hair wet, two lines of muscle disappearing below the surface as waves lap at his waist, might be even more devastating than seeing him fully naked.

I’m not sure I can take all of him out here in the bright sunlight.

“You know, I still can’t get over that guy saying you were bad at sex.” He pushes to the side, swimming around in the clear water.

I’ve taken off my shirt, but I’m still in the sweats as I walk to the edge of the water and put my feet in the surf. “It’s probably because I didn’t…”

Heat flashes in my cheeks. Why am I telling him this? I swear, he can get me talking about things I’d never even say to Sly.

Not finishing my sentence stops his movements. He stills, blue eyes on me like a shark. “Didn’t what?”

“It’s not important.”

“You’d better tell me or I’ll come make you tell.”

“Don’t you dare.”

He makes a move like he’s going to storm the beach, and I say it loud and fast. “I didn’t finish!”

Stopping, he frowns at me. “You didn’t finish? What does that mean?”

“I didn’t… you know.” I wave my hand side to side in a fishy manner. “Get all the way to the fireworks.”

“You didn’t come?”

My nose wrinkles. “I don’t like that word.”

“Sorry. You didn’t have an orgasm.” The way he says it in a fake-snooty way makes me laugh and blush and want to die all at the same time.

“Yeah, that’s… that’s the word.”

“Let me get this straight. Some little punk-assed high school guy punched your V-card, didn’t get you off, and then told everybody you were the problem? He was probably a two-pump chump. Did he finish?”

“He wasn’t that bad. I mean, give me some credit. He was at least cute.”

“Did he get in more than two pumps before he finished?”

Lifting my chin, I don’t meet his eyes. “We practiced safe sex, so I couldn’t tell.”

He’s quiet a moment, pushing the water around with those strong hands. Those hands that never miss a pass. “I’d make you come.”

Heat flashes from my stomach up through my chest. “I don’t know. It kind of takes me a while because I’m always…” I tap on my temple. “I’m in my head too much.”

“I could make you come right now.” His voice lowers, and he studies me in that way he does, calm and focused, like he’s moving in for the kill. “Let me make you come, Daisy.”

This time the flash of heat surges from my chest to my core, awakening my senses. “I think that’s a bad idea.”

“I think it’s a very good idea. Take off those sweatpants and come to me.”

I can’t breathe. My stomach is twisty and scared and excited and nervous. “Scout…”

“Do it.” It’s a low order, and my eyes lock on his.

Glittering sapphires watch me. He’s predatory as he waits, perfectly still, and I’ve fallen under his power. Standing slowly, my fingers fumble along the edge of my waistband. Am I really doing this? The last gasp of my hesitation drowns in the waves. A flutter moves in my stomach as I hook my fingers and slide the pants down my legs, taking my panties with them.

Thank God I shaved last night drifts through my mind, and I realize this is me. I’m doing this.

I’m terrified as I straighten. I want to cover myself, but he’s looking at me in a way that says, Don’t you dare.

I take one step into the water and the corner of his mouth moves ever so slightly. “That’s right. Come here.”

He speaks to me like I’m a timid kitten, and I imagine that’s how I seem. I move faster so the water covers me, and he pushes forward, closing the space between us as he pulls me against his chest.

“I’m afraid.” It’s somewhere between a gasp and
