Tripping (Iced #2) - Kristine Allen Page 0,44

her face.

Suddenly, Alex bounced onto the bed next to me, landing with his head next to mine in the camera window. Fucker kissed my cheek, then spouted, “Hell yes, you should. Time to say bye-bye. Cam is all mine tonight!” He flipped his shoulder-length hair, then ran a hand over my hair, mussing it. Laughing, I shouldered him away.

“Fuck off, I don’t do that to you when you’re talking to Sydney!” I complained, but my words held no weight as I was still laughing.

“No, you’ve done worse!” he announced.

“What have you done?” she demanded in what I imagined was her best teacher voice. It sent thoughts of role-playing naughty teacher with her zipping through my head.

“Nothing! Gotta go!” I said with a happily raised voice.

Alex tried to get in the frame again, and I talked over him. “Talk to you tomorrow, babe!”

She was laughing as I pressed a kiss to the screen like a wuss and then ended the call. Alex was chortling as he dropped his towel and pulled on his boxers.

“Babe, huh?” He gave me a raised-brow grin and pointed his phone at me. “Is the perpetual playboy Cameron McGregor settling down? Has the elusive bachelor finally met his match in the fallen angel? Stay tuned to the Cameron cam to find out!”

His imitation of a gossip journalist had me chuckling. “You’re such an asshole.”

He shrugged before diving under his covers and plugging his phone into the charger. “But you love me.”

I snorted but smiled because he was right. He’d quickly become one of my best friends. It also helped that during away games, he wasn’t big on going partying after a game. Since meeting Bleu, I hadn’t wanted to either.

Alex’s words were meant as a joke, but it had me wondering at the depths of my feelings for Bleu. In the past, a road trip was an opportunity for a string-free hookup. That didn’t appeal to me in the least since meeting her. Being away from her sucked monkey balls.

One last peek at the selfie we’d taken the night of the musical, and I closed my eyes. My dreams were completely X-rated, and Bleu starred in them all night long.

“Life Starts Now”—Three Days Grace

“What time is he supposed to be here?” Sergio asked for about the twentieth time.

A quick glance at the clock showed it would be any minute. My heart began to pound against my ribs. My hand splayed over it because I would’ve sworn it was echoing through the room.

A knock at the door made me jump and sent my heart into my throat.

“Well, I’m out!” Sergio said cheerily as he stood and gathered up his jacket. He went to the door, and I followed him to see him out. When he swung the door wide open, I held my breath.

Cameron stood there, hand mid hair ruffle. His perfect lips curled into a slow grin, eyes locked on mine.

“Well, hey. Good to see you too, Cameron. No, really, I can’t stay, I need to get home. I just stopped by on my way home from work. I know, I know, we’ll catch up another time,” Sergio said with a smirk. Cameron seemed to finally realize he was there and looked at my friend standing next to me, hand resting on his cocked hip.

“Sorry, Sergio. Maybe we can all catch up after Friday’s game. We’ll hit the Iron Dog.” He appeared sheepish, and it was absolutely adorable.

“That sounds wonderful! Do you think you could convince Kristoffer to join us?” His brown eyes lit with excitement. Cameron chuckled and the sound resonated through every molecule of my body.

“I’m not sure about Kris, but I’ll see who all wants to join us.”

Sergio squealed. “Ohhhh, I can’t wait! Okay, I really am leaving.” He tipped his head my directions. “I want details, honey.”

A sputtering laugh escaped me, and my friend brushed past Cameron with a wave. “Toodles!”

He practically skipped to his vehicle.

“Can I come in, or am I staying on the porch?”

“Oh! Sorry! Come on in. I made dinner since you said you weren’t going to stop after landing,” I said, suddenly nervous. When I closed the door and turned to hit the kitchen, he clasped my arm and gently spun me around. The scent of his cologne hit me and had fluttery things going on between my legs.

Mouth parting in surprise, I looked up into his crystal-blue gaze. The tip of his tongue wet his lower lip before he canted his head and leaned in. A soft sigh
