The Tracker Hive Academy Year One - Avery Song Page 0,59
anyway."
"The more the merrier," I hummed.
"I figured out of all the people, you'd think of this as a good thing and not a problem," Zeke mused.
"Why would it be a bad thing?" I asked. "I understand they're hard to control and they do their own thing, but I never considered that a bad thing."
"You don't think so because you have an accepting personality and are surrounded by those who see Shadow Jade as an individual as well as an asset," Zeke explained. "Our district isn't like that."
We reached outside, walking down the stairs and heading to the parking lot where Zeke's car was parked. I could easily walk home, but he insisted I let him drive me.
It was what a boyfriend would do.
I had nothing against us dating, but I wasn't sure it would go well. I didn't want to upset the others either. I'd joked about it numerous times since the start of the school year, but I wasn't sure if they really wanted to share one girl.
I'd be up for the challenge and fun. All I needed was the four of them to agree.
Heading to Zeke's matte black sports car, we walked over to the passenger side. Squeezing my hand slightly, he paused in his attempt to open the car door for me like he'd always done since driving me.
"You're thinking about something," he noted.
"Yes, but multiple things," I admitted, deciding to rest back against his car. Zeke grinned, clearly checking me out.
He slid his hands into his pockets and waited for me to carry on. I personally loved that. It showed he was intrigued by what I had to say and took it seriously.
"Back to your first statement. Do you actually want to date me?"
"I wouldn't have asked if I didn't," he replied.
"What if your brothers like me, too?" I inquired, observing his entire persona. I wanted to catch even the slightest switch in behavior with my flood of questions.
"It wouldn't matter. I'd still want to date you."
"Would you seriously be fine with me dating all four of you? If that was 'allowed' and the four of you agreed."
"Perfectly fine," he confirmed.
Staring at him for a few seconds, I determined he was speaking the full truth.
He's really okay with it. Very intriguing.
I knew he'd pick up on why I was being extra cautious about this, even if it wasn't my normal behavior. Another common attribute of those who carried darkness was their possessiveness.
They hated sharing with others, but it happened in spurts for either short or long periods. I'd seen it plenty of times with Shadow Jade, and that possessiveness had influenced me a few times.
It wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but it was a characteristic that could be bad in a relationship with three other individuals.
"If you're worried about me being possessive, I'm not that bad."
"Define 'not that bad'," I encouraged with a tiny smirk on my face.
"When we were kids, we each got teddy bears for our fifth birthday. I loved my black bear, but Zeus had a white one with gold eyes and I liked that one too. It reminded me of my light element. So I took it."
"That's horrible," I said, struggling not to laugh. "Please tell me you gave it back to him."
"I did." He nodded with pride. "After a year."
I gawked at him. "That is NOT what you consider 'not too bad!' Did Zeus cry?"
"In the beginning, yeah. Zackery gave him his bear and I think my mom bought him another one or something. I did give it back to him."
"My gut tells me he didn't want it anymore and you kept it," I sighed.
"Accurate," he replied.
"That proved absolutely nothing. It doesn't even lean in your favor." I smirked.
"True, but it was honest. That gives me some points." He winked, taking two steps forward. He leaned down to press his forehead against mine.
"Yes, I'm possessive. I like to protect what is mine and hate sharing. However, with my brothers, I can make a small exception and try to fight against that strong craving to keep what I love all to myself."
My ears were listening to everything he said, but his husky voice was having that lovely hypnotic effect on me, making it hard for me to follow along.
Or it could be his closeness, or his gentle cologne that wrapped around me, or even just me enjoying the tingles that were teasing my body.
"You're not listening."
"Listening, yes. Absorbing the information? Give me an extra minute," I whispered.
