The Tracker Hive Academy Year One - Avery Song Page 0,32
it’s a mandatory session."
"We did that at our high school. I went on Monday, Zeke Tuesday, Zion Wednesday, Zeus Thursday, and Friday was usually assemblies or other group sessions. Those were the only days we all attended," Zackery explained.
"Can you guys communicate with one another through thought?" I asked.
"Yes," the four of them announced.
"Doesn't that remove the privacy factor?" I questioned.
"We can decide what to share with one another," Zion replied.
"Do you share feelings as well?" I questioned.
"What do you mean?" Zackery asked.
I looked at him, thinking of what to do. Or how to prove my train of thought.
Zackery suddenly flinched, quickly taking two steps forward and looking behind him. "What the?!"
"Boo."
Shadow Jade had a wide grin on her face as she blinked innocently from where she stood. Her hands were in her pockets, replicating my current stance.
The only difference was her wide smile versus my bored expression.
"Who is that?" Zackery asked. "And did you just bite me?"
She giggled and skipped over to me, wrapping her arms around my neck as usual. "Me!"
"This is my twin. Just call her Shadow Jade," I introduced. "And she proved my point."
"You wanted to know if our connection includes pain," Zeus said as a fact.
"Correct," I replied. "Didn't think Shadow Jade would bite you though," I admitted.
"Lick!"
"No," I immediately replied, noticing Zeke's grin.
"You can lick me whenever."
"My dad is right there!" I groaned, but secretly I liked the idea.
Shadow Jade giggled in reply, resting her head on my shoulder. "Daddy home?"
Alaric smiled in our direction. "Yes, you all can go home now. The tour is over. To answer whether the four of you can alternate in attendance, I have no objection to that idea. One individual can be assigned to a class. You've already been informed of the class schedule. You all must attend the final exam. Any other questions?"
"No," they replied. "Thank you."
"Weird," Shadow Jade announced, creeped out by their unison. She unlatched from me and walked over to Alaric. "Home!"
"Yes. We can go home." He gave her a tender smile. Shadow Jade looked back at me. "Home?"
"I'll go home in a little bit. You can go with Dad," I encouraged.
"Okay!" She wrapped her arm around Alaric's. "Kill. Kill. Kill."
"Is that your theme song, Shadow Jade?" Bianca questioned, giving her a concerned look.
"Kill song!" she cheered happily, tugging Alaric's arm.
"Have a pleasant evening everyone," Alaric bid us farewell.
"Thank you, Headmaster," the brothers replied.
"Bye, Dad. See you later, Shadow Jade." They began to walk away, and Bianca clapped her hands. "You guys will all officially start tomorrow. I suggest you go check where your lockers and the locker rooms are to make sure your assigned numbers are correct. Jade? Can you show them where the change rooms are? I believe that's the only thing we missed."
"Sure," I replied, but mentally groaned.
I don't want to be alone with these dudes.
She grinned and fixed her glasses. "Perfect. Welcome to Tracker Hive Academy. I hope you all enjoy the school year and excel in your knowledge and magic potential."
We thanked her and watched her leave as well.
Once she was gone, I looked at the four men before me.
"Let's get this over with. I'm hungry," I announced. With my hands in my pockets, I began to walk away from the group.
Zackery was the first to catch up to my swift strides. "You walk fast."
"Thanks," I replied.
"That was my way of trying to make conversation," Zackery countered.
"I know," I replied. "Predictable and boring." I began to skip, wondering if he'd keep up.
He actually did, skipping to match my pace. I stopped and began to snicker. He raised an eyebrow at me.
"What?"
"I've never seen a guy skip before," I admitted. "You look funny."
"I thought you'd say I looked attractive," he mumbled in disappointment.
Someone laughed, and I looked back to see it was Zeus, which was unexpected. "You looked like a fucking llama," he roared.
"Attractive, my ass," Zeke chuckled.
Zion smiled at me, reaching where I currently stood. "In his mind, he thought he was all majestic looking and would sweep you off your feet. In reality, he looked like a big-ass guy trying to skip."
"That's why it was so funny." I giggled. "Are the rest of you going to skip?"
"Nah," they said together. "Seeing Zackery do it is enough torture for the day," Zeke replied.
"You guys suck!" Zackery huffed. "Picking the girl's side doesn't land you the girl."
"Figured." Zeus shrugged.
"From the guy who began to skip like we were on the brick road of Oz," Zion chuckled.
