Their Forever - Chloe Kent Page 0,31
right. Ninety minutes.”
She didn't need to tell John to bring his gun with him. He was always armed as per Liam's instruction, and it wasn't negotiable when he was with Olivia.
“Thank you,” she said shakily and sincerely. “Thank you, John.”
He'd accepted she needed help based on the desperate tone in her voice, and for that she would always be grateful to him.
She knew the Romano place like the back of her hand. She could get in undetected, retrieve Bethy and her son, and leave, and no one would know it was her as long as she had a nondescript getaway car waiting for her, which would be John's. She could have driven herself, but with the collection of Porches and Ferraris in Liam’s garage… no, that wouldn't have worked. She could have just used John's car when he brought it to the shelter, but then what was she going to do with Bethy and her newborn baby in plain sight.
Liam would know instantly, and she'd be in the biggest trouble of her life. No, she needed John. He had to drop her back at the shelter and use his various contacts to get her friend and her baby to safety.
Liam had meetings all day today in his study here at home, and she would only see him for dinner that night, with her own day quite full of appointments and a lunch.
She picked up her watch and checked the time. She had better get a move on. Was she doing the right thing by going about it alone? Yes, she assured herself. She didn't want to start a full-out war. She just wanted to get her friend to safety.
As she descended the stairway, with all the heaviness in the world pressing her down, she found Liam and Kade standing at the landing, talking animatedly but softly.
She was going to lie to her husband for the first time in their married life, and it triggered her senses and left her completely bereft, but there was no other way around it.
She stalled for a moment on seeing the two tall men, then quickly shook her head of the disturbing thoughts which seemed to have punctured holes in her armor, then fed her images she shouldn't be thinking about. Not now.
Besides, she had promised herself to give zero airtime to Kade, and she intended to keep her promise for the sanity of her own mind.
She hated that no matter what chastising and rules she had given herself, her body which had grown cold over what she intended to do behind Liam's back, heated up at once, making her feel as if she were on fire, as both men looked up at her.
She couldn't not notice that Kade lowered his head only a moment later, discarding her from his sight instantly.
Still highly rattled, she put all the events of the day, including the business with Bethy at Kade's feet. It was all his fault. From the moment she saw him, everything in her life had gone wrong. He was like a bad omen, and she wished she could be exorcised from him forever.
And worse, it was Liam's fault too. She didn't realize how angry she was with her husband until she saw the two of them together, with their secret familiarity, the tension which seemed to drip off them when they spoke. It was his fault for entertaining his damn chauffeur with such liberties as punishing his wife, then making her come.
She tried her hardest to stamp the thought out of her mind, but it was too late. Her core contracted the same way it had with his fingers inside her, his thumb on her clit, Liam's lips on hers.
Her anger at both of them took precedence now as she marched down the stairs, forestalling the bigger things she had to worry about.
“I want John to drive me,” she said to Liam as soon as she neared him, and Kade reached out to take her tote, which not only now contained her laptop but also her rescue clothing. “Don't you dare touch me,” she hissed, moving farther away from him. She knew her request would be turned down, but she had to try.
“We already discussed this, Olivia,” Liam replied with a lilt he kept only for their bedroom, the one where she was going to be punished if she continued harping on it after he had given his final word.
She glared at him, then stepped out of his way when he reached for her,
