Teddy Spenser Isn't Looking for Love - Kim Fielding Page 0,75

his head slowly. “It’s unbelievable what you’ve done with your apartment.”

“Yeah?”

“It has so much character. It’s like... I don’t know. It feels like it’s in another time, another country even, but it doesn’t feel fake like a stage setting. It’s a home.”

Gregory had never asked where Teddy had found any of his things or why he’d chosen them; he’d just employed them as props for his selfies. Romeo, however, had just spent fifteen minutes giving Teddy’s place a thorough inspection, seemingly interested in the provenance of everything.

Now that Teddy no longer feared that Romeo would hate his place, he remembered they had more immediate priorities.

“You know,” Teddy said from the bathroom doorway. “If you open that drawer to your left you’ll find rubbers and lube.”

“Will I, now? Did you have something in mind, Mr. Spenser?”

“I’d rather have someone in bed.”

Romeo blew a raspberry, then opened the drawer and pulled out the items in question. Waggling his eyebrows, he backed Teddy out of the bathroom, across a few feet of open floor, and up against the bed, toppling Teddy backward onto the mattress.

“Your bed is tall,” Romeo observed as he covered Teddy’s body with his own.

“Storage underneath.”

“When I was a kid—” Romeo nuzzled deliciously at Teddy’s neck “—I desperately wanted one of those loft beds with the desk underneath it. We never could afford it, though.”

“You could get one now.”

“Mmm.” Romeo planted a series of kisses along his jaw. “It’s lost its appeal.”

“Yeah?” Teddy gave a little groan, but he pressed on. “What kind of bed do you dream of now?”

“One with you in it.”

That was a dream Teddy would happily support.

Today he was more thankful than usual for overenthusiastic radiators. The apartment’s sultry temperature allowed them to take their time undressing each other, with no need to dive quickly under the blankets. Somehow it seemed much more real to have Romeo naked in his arms here, in Teddy’s home, instead of in a chain hotel room two thousand miles away. Here, Romeo seemed more truly his.

If Teddy were to tell his family about Romeo and how he felt about him, he knew what they’d say. That’s nice, dear, but it’s much too soon. Don’t rush into this. They’d mean well. But it wasn’t too soon. He’d been waiting for Romeo his entire life—even if he hadn’t been aware of it. The question was whether Romeo had been waiting for him as well.

“That’s some pretty loud thinking you’re doing,” Romeo said with a chuckle. “Want me to tone down the handsiness?”

“No!” Teddy pulled Romeo tight, demonstrating how much he’d abhor a toned-down handsiness.

“Good.”

“I was thinking about you.”

“Also good.”

Teddy laughed. “It is. It’s all good. We’re good.”

His expression serious, Romeo locked their gazes and threaded his fingers into Teddy’s unruly hair. “We are. We really, really are.”

There wasn’t much talking after that, unless moans, pleas, and half-uttered blasphemies counted. Romeo was a tease in all the best ways, inching his palms up the inside of Teddy’s thighs, blowing softly in his ear, flicking his tongue almost everywhere but the place that would send Teddy over the edge. Teddy had been reduced to a sweaty, writhing, desperate mess—and he never wanted it to stop.

The condom and lube were lost somewhere in the bedding, which could have meant a delay of game, except while Romeo searched, Teddy used the opportunity to play with that magnificent ass. Teddy’s actions didn’t exactly assist in the quest, but Romeo didn’t complain.

Eventually, after the condom had been donned and the slick liberally applied, Teddy moved slowly inside his lover. Romeo didn’t complain about that either. He was too busy gasping and clutching Teddy’s hips.

“Romeo!” Teddy shouted as he climaxed.

From the other side of the wall, the neighbor’s voice came faintly. “Wherefore art thou?”

Laughing and breathless, Teddy and Romeo settled in for a midmorning nap. Well, Romeo napped, anyway. Teddy remained awake, clutching Romeo’s warm body even as hope and worry battled in Teddy’s brain.

He and Romeo, they had something. It was tenuous but real, and Teddy felt it with every beat of his heart. Having didn’t mean holding, however. There were still so many chances for Teddy to mess things up. Back when he’d been convinced his future involved career success and a life flying solo—less than two weeks ago—he might have been lonely. But he’d known what was coming. Now? Now was like running down the train tracks in a blinding blizzard. He might be led to safety. Or he might get run over.

Oh, but the run
