Tail 'Em (Jailbreak #1) - Sam Hall Page 0,121

moving, getting across the arena. He’d given his mate the other baton, and they used them liberally to redirect the attentions of the breeders away from the two of them. No matter what had been done to them, the stink of an alpha male was enough to deter most other shifters. He’d imagined that this would be the hard bit, so when they reached the metal door out, he let himself breathe.

“Huron!” Gaden shouted, thumping on the door. “Let us in.”

His view of his crew was obscured by the dense mesh, but they shifted enough to let him know they remained. They weren’t shifting to where he needed them though. They stayed resolutely silent, still.

“Kain! For fuck’s sake, let us out. Amika’s hurt!”

“Amika’s chosen. You know the drill, mate,” Kain said, stepping up to the grill, putting his hand on the mesh.

“What? You…” He took a step backwards, his first mistake. The words, they didn’t make sense or mesh in his brain. Then he let go of Amika, his second. It wasn’t going to be long, just to grab his keys and unlock the fucking door before he drove his fist repeatedly in that idiot’s face.

That was all it took—a fumble on his keychain while his back was turned.

Her cry was a short, abbreviated thing as she was torn away, for good this time. He’d spun around, thumb jammed down on the baton to the sound of electricity crackling, but he had her.

“I couldn't tell you what he looked like,” we heard Gaden’s voice echo inside our minds. “I didn’t see much of him. Just those hands, tearing her clothes, her skin, but I remember his mouth. Open wide, fangs outstretched. He tore her apart, the desire to mark her and make her his transformed by their insanity into him tearing her jugular out.”

The vision went red, first with Amika’s blood as it fountained out, then it all went red and the fucking Capricorn Institute reinstated itself.

“Bring down the walls,” I growled, my voice not my own. It held the combined weight of six shifters and my own damn power, echoing around the room, pressing down hard on the humans. So hard that those men, still alive but bleeding out, twitched to try and do my will. Stuart grit his teeth, hunching over his tablet, his hands going to claws to try and stop himself. I tilted my head.

“Fucking do it, you little bitch.”

Hollingsworth made inarticulate noises, still seeing Amika’s death as the glass slid down. We stepped out onto the shining black marble floor as one, unified in this. It was time to end this place.

“Sort out the men. We decide what to do with Stuart and Hollingsworth as a group,” I said to the others. “My friend…” I turned to Jai. “Janey’s locked away upstairs.”

“I’ll get her. A familiar face would be good.”

I nodded. “Clean this place out. Kill, incapacitate, you decide,” I said to the others.

“I want a say in what happens to them,” Gaden said, looking at the two architects of this place. “I’ve earned it.”

I nodded, then walked up to Stuart.

He was a white, educated male, so a naked me should have been somewhat intimidated, but I wasn’t. I jerked his little tablet away from him, tucking it under my arm to the sound of his little snivels. He raised a hand to me and saw himself smacking me down, dragging me out of here, doing all sorts of experiments in his own lab, and making a name for himself. I tapped into the guys and fed their bloodthirsty thoughts directly into his brain until he burst into tears, piss trickling down his legs.

I skirted that, stepping in close and slapping a hand on his forehead. “Show me how to stabilise everyone. Show me how to disable these chips in our heads, and most importantly, show me how to blow this place to fucking smithereens. Evil villain shit like this? There’s always an auto-destruct sequence.”

He fought me, something that just made me laugh. I was in his mind, could make anything seem real to him, so I visualised kicking the ever loving shit out of him, his parasympathetic system going into overdrive as if I actually was.

But at some point, actual muscle was needed. Caleb stalked over, blood dripping from his hands, which somehow just made him all the hotter. His smile was a dark thing as he raised two fingers on each hand and smeared lines of blood down his cheeks, like some kind
