Every book has a story of how it comes together. This one started with a challenge that I couldn’t have predicted—a viral storyline questioning a fictional governmental response. It required substantial rewrites to maintain my goal to transport readers into an exciting world where they could escape the day-to-day.
As one of many working single parents suddenly thrust into the enormous responsibility of academic teaching, I can say that distance learning brought more challenges. It’s hard to write a sex scene when someone needs their second breakfast or can’t remember their Zoom password.
