Strung Tight (The Road To Rocktoberfest #1) - Ann Lister Page 0,76

cards a few rounds into the game, which wasn’t half bad, but I was still upset about Dallas. My heart hurt, not knowing if he was okay.

“Your turn, dipshit,” Mike said to me. “Read your card out loud.”

I glanced down at my hand, and the first card my eyes focused on made me smile. The object of the game was to take an ordinary phrase and make it sound as sexual as you could, and then your opponents would decide if your answer was worthy of any points given for that round. The first person to reach fifteen points was the winner.

“Okay, my card says: Blowing is best with ______” I recited, “and my answer is birthday candles.”

“What? That doesn’t even make sense,” Dixon rebuffed.

“It’s definitely not sexual,” Potter added.

“Blowing is best with birthday candles,” I repeated for clarity. “That makes perfect sense!”

“It should be saliva or blowjobs,” Mike spouted.

“It could also be bubbles,” I replied. “Blowing is best with bubbles. Maybe I should have said that instead.”

“Still not sexual,” Potter pointed out.

“Does it really have to be sexual?” I asked.

“Yes!” they all shouted at me in unison.

“That’s what makes this game fun,” Mike said. “You do remember what fun is, right?”

“Blowing bubbles,” Potter said and chuckled. “Only you would say something like that, Fletcher.”

“Blowjobs was the obvious answer,” Dixon grumbled.

“Blowing is best with blowjobs,” I repeated. “That makes far less sense than my answer with the birthday candles.”

“How so?” Dixon argued.

“No one blows when giving head, dimwit,” I stated. “There’s sucking, licking, and maybe a little biting or nibbling, but not blowing! When was the last time you had your dick sucked, genius? There’s no blowing involved.”

“Stop with the dirty talk, Fletch, I’m getting hard.” Mike teased and everyone began to howl with laughter at the table.

“Well, I guess you two would be the ones at this table who know all about giving head,” Dixon challenged Mike and me. “Am I right?”

Potter cleared his throat, and we all looked in his direction. His face seemed flushed as he reached for his bottle of orange juice to take a few sips. He realized we were all staring at him when he set his beer back down onto the table. “What? Why are you all staring at me?”

“It sounded like you had something to share with us, Potter,” Mike pushed. “Do you have something you’d like to add to our conversation about sucking dick?”

Potter shrugged and focused on the cards in his hands. “I got a blowjob from a dude last year. So what. End of story,” he confessed.

“No fucking way, Potter!” Dixon yelled in surprise. “Am I the only one here who hasn’t been with a guy?” Theo, the friend Dixon brought with him on the bus, raised his hand. “What’s with the hand, Theo? Don’t tell me you’ve fucked a dude.”

Theo shrugged. “I don’t discriminate,” he remarked. “If I’m attracted to the person, and it feels good, I’m going for it. What can I say?”

“Holy fucking shit,” Dixon said to his friend. “How did I not already know this?”

“Did you want me to send you a text or something?” Theo joked.

“Maybe you should give it a try,” Mike suggested to Dixon.

“Why would I do that?” Dixon asked. “I like girls.”

“So you say, and I like girls, too, but every once in a while I want to eat a nice, rare piece of steak,” Mike said with a smirk. “Know what I’m saying? Sometimes you might be craving chicken, but other times, all you can think about is eating a big, thick slab of meat.”

All eyes were trained on Mike when he finished his explanation, and now my face was flushed with heat. I wasn’t aware Mike was so talented with the dirty talk, but then again, I’d never been this tuned-in to innuendoes about eating dicks. Now all I could think about was eating Dallas’s dick.

Dixon leaned across the table closer to Mike. “I like my meat medium—not rare.”

“Suit yourself,” Michael replied. “In the end, it’s just a piece of meat on your plate.”

Another round of laughter bounced around the bus from the easy banter between the guys, and I realized I was actually enjoying myself—even without Dallas onboard. Then my thoughts shifted to him again, and it was like the sunshine outside dimmed.

Chapter Twenty-Four

The ride to the venue went by in a blur. We all slept for several hours after we played cards and we ate far too much junk food from the stores at the truck stops.
