Strung Tight (The Road To Rocktoberfest #1) - Ann Lister Page 0,50
later. No way was I willing to share him while we were together, and even though we touched base about this before, a detail this important deserved another discussion. I couldn’t assume he felt the same way I did and that he wanted to be monogamous with me. I’d need to spell it out for him for sure, or I’d have no right to be upset if he hooked up with someone else.
It suddenly hit me that what I was sorting out in my head were the rules behind being boyfriends with Dallas. Was that what we were? Boyfriends? We did hang around together, and when we couldn’t, we texted a lot to check in with the other. I’d shared some personal shit with him, too, and we got each other off a few times, so did all that make us a couple? Is that what I wanted? When shit happened during the day, he was the one I messaged to tell him about it, and he did the same with me. Almost all our down time was spent together, so I think that meant something in regards to a relationship.
“What’s going on in that head of yours?” Dallas asked.
His voice made me realize I’d been thinking too hard about things that I shouldn’t, and I shook my head to clear my thoughts. “My mind is just fried from rehearsing,” I said.
“Yeah? Are you sure that’s all it is?” Dallas asked. The grin on his face told me he knew I was holding something back that I undoubtedly wanted to talk about.
The urge to kiss that expression off his sexy face was so overwhelming I was practically vibrating with energy. My hands flexed at my sides from wanting to reach for him. I glanced around us quickly and then heard Dallas chuckling, which pulled my attention back in his direction.
“I know what you want to do to me,” he said with self-assurance, “and unless you feel like outing yourself officially today, I wouldn’t do it.”
“How would you know what I’m thinking?” I asked.
Dallas leaned in closer to my ear. “You’re sporting a semi in your pants and your face is flushed,” he explained in a soft tone. “I know what that look means. You want to crush your mouth to mine, and here really isn’t the place for that.” Dallas stepped back a bit but held my gaze as he spread his arms wide. “I’m already out with these misfits, so there’s no big reveal on my end. It’s all on you. If you want to kiss me, I’m more than willing to reciprocate until the soles of your boots melt. Just be sure that’s what you want before you lay one on me because I will kiss you back and then some.”
“My pudge is now steel,” I said and glanced around behind me to make sure Paxton wasn’t close enough to hear our conversation. “Thanks for that.”
“You can thank me later when you have that rod stuffed all the way into the back of my throat,” Dallas said loud enough for only me to hear. He grabbed his backpack sitting on a table next to the crates, and then we made our way toward the exit door beside the loading dock.
We walked together down the stairs to the parking lot behind the building, and I bumped my shoulder into Dallas’s. “Are you completely done with work for today?” I asked.
“I am, but I’ll need a shower when we get to your place,” he mentioned. “I stink of sweat.”
“I’m digging the way you smell,” I stated, “but you can shower if you want while I get things ready.”
“Get what ready?”
“I have a surprise planned, well sort of.”
Dallas looked at me and flashed another one of his amazing smiles. “If it involves us both being naked, I’m down for it.”
“It definitely involves nudity and also being outside, which I know are both things you love to do.” I teased.
“I’m not sure if I have the energy for streaking around your neighborhood.”
I laughed and shook my head. “There’s no streaking on the agenda for tonight, but I’ll keep it in mind for another time.”
“What’s up with your shadow?” Dallas asked about Paxton. “Will he be riding in the truck with us?”
“I’m afraid so,” I stated. “He’ll need to follow me until I get home. After that, he’s off the clock and so am I. He can take an Uber back to the bar.”
We hopped up into the truck owned by Dallas’s father,
