Somebody to Hold (Tyler Jamison #2) - April Wilson Page 0,14

sits on the side of our bed, wearing only a pair of black boxer-briefs, as he shines his perfectly-polished black dress shoes. “Relax, Tyler. They’re going to love you.”

Tyler raises a dark eyebrow and gives me a look I’ve become very familiar with. “Your father hates me, Ian. I don’t think one family dinner is going to change that.”

I step in front of him and cup his handsome face in my hands. “All you have to do is win my mom over, and then Dad will fall in line. And I promise my sister is going to love you.”

When he finishes shining his shoes, Tyler heads into our walk-in closet to get dressed. He has already showered, trimmed his beard, and applied cologne. Now, he’s deciding which one of his dozen identical white dress shirts, all fresh from the dry cleaners, he’s going to wear.

“Just pick one, Tyler. They all look the same. And to think you razz me about taking too long to decide what to wear.”

Tyler rolls his eyes at me as he pulls a shirt off the rack. “You do take too long.”

Since I’m already dressed, I’m at liberty to enjoy watching Tyler get dressed. I’m mesmerized by his firm chest and his well-defined biceps. Sexy veins snake their way down his arms to the back of his masculine hands, and the sight makes me practically weak in the knees. His dark chest hair narrows to a thin line that dips below the waistband of his briefs. He reminds me of a Greek statue, all rough planes and chiseled muscles.

If we didn’t have such important plans tonight, I’d already be on my knees, worshipping his cock. But we do, so the worshipping will have to wait until after we return home.

Tonight is Operation Win Over My Dad.

Tyler slips on his shirt and buttons it up. Then he selects a pair of black trousers, also fresh from the dry cleaners, and pulls them on. Watching him tuck in his shirt, then thread his black leather belt through his belt loops is nearly as good as foreplay. Once he’s dressed, he sits on a padded bench and pulls on his black socks and shoes.

Most definitely, one of my newfound pleasures in life is watching Tyler get dressed. It’s almost as enjoyable as watching him get undressed.

“You know, you don’t have to get dressed up to have dinner with my family. I’m not dressing up.” I hold out my hands and pose for him in my ripped jeans and my favorite Guardians of the Galaxy T-shirt.

He raises an eyebrow. “Ian, your father’s a federal judge, and your mother is a district attorney. Do you think they’ll be wearing jeans to dinner tonight? I highly doubt it.”

“Good point.” As he reaches for his tie, I take it from him. “Let me do it.” I deftly tie his tie before tucking it beneath his shirt collar and arranging it just perfectly.

I get a kick out of doing the simple things for him, like tying his tie or picking up his clothes from the dry cleaners. Tyler is a domineering, controlling force of nature, which I love—especially in bed—so when he indulges me, it’s extra sweet. Plus, I enjoy taking care of him. God knows he does a great job of taking care of me.

Tonight’s a big deal for him. He and my dad got off on the wrong foot initially. When my father discovered Tyler and I were dating, he threatened to get Tyler fired if he didn’t stop seeing me. My dad means well, but he has a tendency to be overprotective.

Tyler wants to get on a better footing with my dad. He wants my family to like him. I already have his family’s blessings—his mother and sister both welcomed me with opens arms.

I smooth the fabric of his shirt over his chest, delighting in the feel of his firm muscles beneath the fabric. “You have nothing to worry about.”

His hands come up to cup my face, and he pulls me in for a kiss, his lips warm as he teases mine open. I wrap my fingers around his wrists, holding onto him and relishing his strength. He’s my anchor.

“I hope you’re right,” he says as he grabs his Rolex off the dresser and straps it on. Then he grabs his suit coat. “Okay, let’s go. I don’t want to be late to my first Alexander family dinner.”

“The first of many,” I say.

“Let’s hope so.”

The thought that he’s actually nervous about
