So Gone - By Jennifer Luckett Page 0,49

my bluff, so I raised my foot and kicked the door repeatedly. After the fifth kick, I could feel it starting to give in. “I told you I wasn’t playin’,” I slurred as I kicked the last hinge loose.

“I thought I asked you respectfully to stay in your lane?” A cold voice said on the back of my neck. “You wanna make me murk you, Homie?”

I glanced over my shoulder and saw Rocco standing there wit’ his steel digging in my spine.

“This is your last warning. Leave the lady alone. Next time we bump heads, we gon’ fill the church up. Man up and let the woman go. She doesn’t want you no more, so gon’ on home.”

“Aight, homie. You’re right, I’ll fall back.”

I staggered to my car and headed over to Luscious’ crib. But if Rocco thought that he wasn't gonna have to pay for pulling out his banger on me, he seriously underestimated the fool that I was.

Molaysia

I called Leesha as soon as the sun came up to fill her in on the latest news.

“Mo’, what the hell you doing calling me this early in the morning?” she groaned.

“Girl, please. Wake up. It’s after seven.” I redirected my attention to the morning traffic on the interstate. “I need to tell you about some stuff that went on last night,” I aired as I slowed down for a car hitting on brakes in front of me.

“What the hell happened? Nobody better not be fucking with you.” Leesha perked up.

“No, it's nothing like that,” I quickly put her mind at ease. Then I gave her the news on what happened with Blunt and how Rocco handled him last night.

“You better keep that looney mothafucka away from yo’ house. You gonna have to make up your mind about what you gon’ do wit’ Blunt’s crazy ass.You need to call the police if he shows up again.” she lectured.

“I know,” I had to agree.

“Tell me why you sound confused?” she asked with an edge in her tone.

I sighed and rolled my eyes as if she could see me from the other end of the phone. “I’m done with Blunt, but I still have love for him. Anybody who has ever been in love knows that you can’t stop loving a person in a few days or even weeks. And I don't want to have him locked up. I just want him to leave me alone,” I tried to explain.

“Yes, I can understand that. You need to stay strong and let that shit go, or you’ll always be miserable. When the right man comes, you’ll be too involved with the wrong one. You’ll never be happy if you let that progress blocker hang around. Just take out some time and think about what I’m saying. You’ll be alright,” she counseled.

My eyes watered because she was preaching the gospel in my ear that morning. I felt that my relationship had been over for a while, but I was afraid to let it go. I didn’t want to go through a heartbreak because it was a painful experience, and there was no medicine that could cure it. “You’re so right,” I agreed. I’m going to take it one day at a time, and this too shall pass,” I commented.

“If you keep messing with Blunt you gon’ pass,” she kidded.

“That shit isn’t funny,” I said.

“Mo’, will you please stop trying to curse? That is so not you.”

“Shut the fuck up, bitch,” I kidded, and we both cracked up.

We gossiped back and forth a little longer and said our farewells once I made it in the school's parking lot. I agreed with all of the advice she had given me about Blunt, but I wanted closure. Most of all, I wanted our relationship to end peacefully.

I dialed Blunt's number and a female answered. “May I speak to Blunt? ” I asked, nevertheless.

“Who’s this?” she asked.

“This is Molaysia.”

“Hmph. This is Luscious,” she proudly announced.

“I need to speak to Blunt.” I was succinct with her because I did not want a confrontation.

She left me on hold for several minutes before Blunt came on the line sounding half sleep. When he heard my voice, he went off on Luscious.

“Answer my phone again, and I'ma beat you like a dog,” I heard him threaten her. His disrespect for women was out of control.

“What’s up, Mo’?” he asked.

“We need to talk. Can you meet me at the gym around four o’clock.” I hadn't been there in months, but he would know which
