So Gone - By Jennifer Luckett Page 0,11

to call Mika and try to keep Mo’ from ever finding out about all of it. I had a feeling that I was runnin’ out of chances wit’ her.

Revenge

Molaysia

It was ten o’clock at night according to the digital clock on my cell phone. I was sitting on the edge of the bed in my white fitted tee and a pair of peach colored shorts. I had been blowing Blunt’s phone up for more than an hour and still couldn’t get an answer. If he brought his ass home at the crack of dawn tonight, all of his stuff would be packed when he got here.

I finally gave up on reaching him after the sixth attempt. "You know what? Fuck him!” I said to the ceiling fan.

I stretched out sideways across my king sized bed and reminisced on a time when Blunt made me so happy. Now that time seemed to be nothing but a distant memory.

I covered my head with a pillow and let the tears flow. All I wanted was for him to be real with me. If he didn't love me anymore, why couldn't he just tell me?

I hated that his philandering had begun to make me feel insecure about my ability to please him. I had done everything that I could to keep him happy, so why did he need all of these rats on the side? I wondered as I began to sob heavily.

Minutes later, my house phone rang. I rolled over and picked it up on the second ring. “Yeah,” I answered dryly.

“Girl, what’s up?” It was my cousin, Leesha. “You sounding all pitiful and shit.”

I took a deep breath and let it out slowly. I did not want to cry on her shoulder. “I’m just a little upset,” I revealed while wiping a tear from my eye and sniffling.

"What did Blunt do now?" She sighed.

“It's nothing. I’ll be alright. We will work it out like we always do,” I said making light of the situation before changing the subject. “How you been, Leesha?”

“I’m good. I'm on the highway headed your way. I'll be in Atlanta in well an hour or so. I kno’ it’s short notice, but wanted us to do something together since your birthday is this weekend. Oh, and guess what, Cuz?"

I rolled my eyes up at the ceiling. I really wasn’t in the mood for company, but I hoped it wouldn’t be too bad. Leesha was usually a lot of fun to be around, and we had some catching up to do. Maybe that was what I needed to make me forget about my issues with my man.

“What?” I asked trying to sound excited.

“I got us both tickets to Keith Sweat’s concert tomorrow.”

A smile crept across my face. I loved me some Mr. Sweat. "Omg!" I screamed, hopped up, and jumped up and down like I had won the Mega Millions Jackpot.

"So, are you going? Or are you gonna be cooped up under your Mr. Wrong?"

“I would love to go. In fact, I need to get out of the house and enjoy myself for a change.”

"Amen," she exclaimed.

"Oh, hush, Cuz." I managed to laugh and laid back down.

“So, when are you going to tell me what you and Blunt are going through?” She returned to what I was trying not to talk about. “You are really going to have to get a backbone and stop lettin’ that nigga run all over you,” she advised.

When it came to men, Leesha was not with the games. Where I was weak and forgiving, she was no nonsense. Sometimes her straight forwardness irritated me, but I knew that she loved me and had my back.

I sat up and leaned back against the headboard. Might as well let it out. I decided to do so because I needed someone to talk to. Leesha would listen then give it back to me real.

“I kept Blunt’s son, Devin, today, and do you know what he let spill out of his mouth?" I blurted.

"What, girl? Wait a minute, let me brace myself." After an exaggerated pause she said, "Okay, I'm ready."

I gave her the full version of Blunt's shenanigans, leaving out nothing that I had learned today.

"Oomph, oomph oomph! He’s just as nasty as a garbage dump. Ole’ dick slanging bastard. Girl, I’m gon’ need you to do better.”

"I know, right?"

“Chile, let a nigga I’m dealing wit’ try some shit like that. See, you gon’ have to stand up and stop lettin’ mothafuckas handle you any kind of way.
