Later that evening India and Danika had a pleasant dinner and conversation with Travis. The after dinner entertainment was incredibly unparalleled and everyone seemed to be enjoying the calypso music band that was playing that evening. Travis motioned to India and Danika to walk along with him as he strolled around explaining to them what they were working with. Travis began to brief them about the competition as he said, “There are several companies here that are trying to land that massive deal just as we are doing so we must be shrewd as we tackle our prey.” “See those two guys over there (pointing at two Japanese men); they’re representatives from the Osaka Marketing Group, Ltd.” That company is our third largest international competitor so we must keep an eye on them.” “Those four gentlemen over there are representatives from the English marketing company, Abbott, Berryman, and Fry.” “They’re our second concern, but you see those two gentlemen standing by the bar (pointing at Tomas and Jacques) they’re our biggest competitor.” “They're from the France firm known as the Dubois Marketing Group, which is the largest marketing firm in the world.” That company has total assets of over 40 billion dollars and makes about $500,000,000 every six months.” “If we need to watch anyone of these competitive companies this company is the one to watch!”
India smiled at Danika as she replied, “Ooohhhh…I think we can work on them.”
Travis was lost as he heard her response, “Do you know them?”
India looked at him, “Let’s just say that we’ve had some conversations before.”
“Good…I hope you can keep them out of the way then.” “We’ll meet with our first prospects tomorrow morning at 9:00 am.”
As they were about to go and mingle with the rest of the guests, Travis grabbed India’s hand.
She looked at him as he said, “Can I speak with you for a minute…in private?”
Danika looked at them as India said, “I’ll catch up with you in a minute okay.”
Danika sighed heavily as she strolled out toward the main reception area.
Travis escorted India out on the west balcony. As they strolled out the door she thought, “What does he want with me now?”
They stepped toward the railing of the balcony as she turned to face him. He looked at her, gazing into her bedroom eyes as he said, “India…can I call you, India…I am very ecstatic that you’re here on this assignment, but I haven’t been completely honest with you.”
She looked at him astounded as she replied, “What…what are you talking about, Travis?”
“I don’t know any other way to say this to you but to just tell you…I think, I’m in love with you!” “I’ve loved you since ever since we met at the last marketing conference in Philly.”
She looked at him puzzled as she tried to understand how this man could be in love with her, especially since she had never met him, so she thought. Then she remembered that the Philadelphia conference was almost four years ago as she replied, “That was four years ago…you were there?”
He smiled as he replied, “You don’t remember…I was the one who sent you those flowers and…”
As he continued to explain to her, she completely tuned him out as she began to reminisce about that conference. She remembers being invited to a private Halloween party where everyone wore masks. She slept with a person who was dressed like Batman but she never found out who that person was and she was drunk anyway so she just forgot about it until now.
