The Seduction (Finding Forever #2) - Jessie Jones Page 0,59
me to go from being able to move about freely to having guards around me all day, every day. Don't you see how hard that would be for me?"
"Tell me, kitten. How long do you think it will be before Galen finds you here in Paris? You know what the fucking bastard is capable of! Why would you deny having protection against him?"
"I know Galen is coming for me, damn it, and that scares the shit out of me!" Gillian yelled as tears sprang to her emerald eyes. "I don't need you reminding me of that! I know I'm in danger."
"Then let me protect you!" John said as he pulled her struggling form onto his lap. "Why are you making this so fucking hard? I know I am asking you to change your way of life, but at least, with me, you will be safe. The guards will become such a normal aspect of life that you won't even realize they are there. I know you're scared, love, but I'm asking you to trust me."
"I want to trust you, but if you hurt me, John—"
"I have no intention of hurting you, kitten," John replied, cutting off her words as he lightly stroked her face. "I don't know what it is, but from the moment I saw you, I knew you belonged to me. I've never been in a monogamous, committed relationship before, and I know I'm fucking this up, but every fiber of my being wants this with you. All I ask is that you give us a chance. We can figure out the details as we go. You want to work, then work, but there will be guards stationed around the hospital. You want to go shopping, then go, but again, you will be protected. If not by me or Patrick, then by my men."
Gillian searched his eyes and saw the sincerity and emotion there as John spoke. Maybe she was trying to complicate things, but she did not want to get hurt. She really couldn't judge her British lover when she, herself, had no experience with a committed relationship. John was also right about Galen. If she was honest, Gillian was tired of running. She felt completely safe with John and knew that he would kill anyone who attempted to hurt her. In the short amount of time she had been with him, he had gone to great lengths to make sure she was comfortable and well taken care of. The billionaire may be the leader of the underworld, but somehow she knew that he was a good man whom she could trust.
"Okay, Bear, you win," Gillian softly said as she placed a kiss on the palm of his hand that was stroking her face. "I want you, so we'll make this work. You have to promise me, though, that you will keep the lines of communication open between the two of us. I want us to talk through our issues just like we are now."
"Of course, kitten." John smiled, the dimples on his beautiful bearded face deepening. "I do have one rule, though. I'm sure I will piss you off from time to time, but even at your angriest, you still sleep in my bed. Understood?"
Gillian nodded her head in agreement before she leaned forward to kiss his lips. There was one more thing she wanted to talk to him about. "There is something else I want to talk about, John. Pandora said something about you sharing women with your friends. I hope I am the exception to this rule."
John sighed and rolled his eyes. When he found Pandora, she would regret betraying him. "I'm not sure what all my ex-mistress told you, but I can guarantee most of it was lies. I don't share women, kitten, and I certainly have no intention of sharing you."
"What about Patrick? You wanted me to sleep with him."
"Pat's different. He's not my friend," John replied calmly, trying to read her thoughts. Cocking a brow, he asked, "Did you not like your sexual encounter with Pat?"
"Yes, I liked it," Gillian said, blushing hotly, unable to lie to him. "But will I be expected to have sex with Pat often?"
"Pat may join us from time to time, but only if you want him to, kitten. I would never force you to do something you didn't want to do. Pat would never hurt you, and from this point forward, he will have his own set of rules to follow."
