Secrets of a Prince (The Princes of New Sargasso #3) - Carol Moncado Page 0,26

created several overarching threads and directed everyone to comment in those rather than dozens of people making their own threads.

The general consensus was that it could be a good thing, as long as they stayed true to the original. Given Kari’s love for the series - though she’d never been a part of the online community as far as Minnie knew - it seemed likely that great care would be taken to ensure the legacy lived on.

A second thread had been dedicated to details about the contest. The first post was updated as more information came to light. Detailed guidelines would be posted the next Monday, as Kari and Prince Gideon arrived in Islas del Sargasso for their honeymoon.

It looked to Minnie like applicants would have to submit three chapters based on the outline they’d be given, then detail the rest of the story as the author saw it. It would all be anonymized so there could be no chance of favoritism on the part of the judges. Besides Kari as the absolute final arbiter, the article didn’t mention who else might be judging.

Another thread talked about which authors on the fanfic site might be a good match. Minnie was gratified and a bit embarrassed to see how many times her name came up. RealJ1955’s other username had been mentioned nearly as many times.

Several others were there almost as often. They were all really good, though she wasn’t certain all of them were capable of maintaining the true spirit and style of the originals.

She moved the mouse to the top right of the screen to log in, but froze when she realized an account was already logged in.

RealJ1955

Blinking as she stared at the Welcome, RealJ1955 written there, Minnie wondered how she hadn’t realized there was an account logged in sooner.

Was Joss the same man she’d been talking to for well over a decade?

Could that even be possible?

But what other explanation could there be for RealJ1955 being logged in on his computer?

Minnie leaned back in the chair and blew out a breath.

Now that she knew - or technically, strongly suspected - Joss was the friend she’d been messaging for years, how did she feel about that - and, more importantly, what was she going to do?

The wedding had been everything a royal wedding should be. Or so all of the news outlets said.

Joss thought it seemed like most of the other weddings he’d ever been to, just with a little more pomp, a few more guests, and a lot more cameras.

He hadn’t seen Minnie in over a week and really wanted to get over to the apartment, but didn’t know when he’d be able to.

With Gid getting ready to go out of town and Dave leaving for San Majoria again with his family, Joss had appearances to make. Caleb had only been married a couple of weeks and would be going halfway around the world in another week, so he’d decided to take a few days off to spend with Rosie.

There had been some talk about Rosie going with him, but they decided against it. Joss didn’t know why.

He’d kept an eye on the chat room and message boards, but NotCharlotte95 hadn’t been back online as far as he could tell.

By the time he made it to the apartment, it had been ten days since he saw Minnie. Her texts had been brief and to the point.

Not that their texts had ever been chatty.

He didn’t know what to make of that.

He also didn’t know what to make of the fact that he missed NotCharlotte95 more than he probably should.

This time, Minnie wasn’t asleep when he arrived, though she’d looked absolutely adorable when she’d just woken up.

“Come on in.” She stood to the side as she held the door then closed it behind him.

“How are you?” he asked heading for the living area. He set the bag he’d brought down on the chair as he glanced back at her.

Minnie shrugged. “Going crazy. I haven’t talked to another human being in ten days. I almost called the time and temperature number just to hear someone’s voice.”

Joss turned as he winced. “I should have called. I’m sorry. I know we texted a little bit, but a call would have been better. And I’m sorry I couldn’t be here sooner. Between the wedding, and Caleb wanting a few days off with his wife before going out of town, and...”

“What?” she interrupted.

He looked back. “Huh?”

“Caleb’s wife?”

With a grimace, he motioned for her to sit on the
