Sandman (Ceasefire #6) - Claire Marta Page 0,19

what happened when my family was murdered by another one of my kind. Their powers somehow entered me, but in my pain, guilt, and anger, it fractured me into pieces. It almost destroyed me.”

“So, you’re one being trapped in three different bodies?”

Dropping into the shabby leather recliner in the corner of the room I nod. “Exactly.”

Attention shifting to the two silent males, she threads a loose lock of chestnut hair behind her ear. “Do you know how insane that sounds?”

“More than you’ve seen already with your own eyes,” I point out with a dry chuckle. “They personify some of the powers that tried to merge with me.”

She wanted answers, and she’s getting them in bucket loads. From her expression, they don’t look like the one’s she expected to hear.

“That’s true,” she admits after a long pause.

“I’ve never given a fuck about anything apart from finding things to feel nothing. Illusions is lost in madness and distrust. He’s never come near the house before. Nightmares can’t be around anyone because he naturally draws out their bad dreams and night terrors just with his presence. That’s the reason I’ve kept him locked up. All we’ve done is fight until you came along. Somehow, when you’re around all we want to do is focus on you. They want a taste of you now that I have. To feel the comfort you gave me freely with your body and kindness.”

“You mean…”

“We want you to be our dirty girl,” I inform her sinking back into the seat and making myself comfortable.

Robin’s eyes grow impossibly wider. “All three of you?”

“At the same time. Three cocks. One fucked up situation, but hey technically you’ll only be with one guy. We’re going to take your cunt, your ass, and mouth,” I continue, voice low. “Make you squeal and beg for more until you pass out from the pleasure.”

Her cheeks stain pink in a blush, her teeth sinking into her bottom lip, but she can’t hide her fleeting look of lust. “Christ, I’m not sure I can get my head round that…you’re all so…different.”

She darts a peek at the mammoth bulge in the front of Nightmares’ jeans, the ridged outline hard to miss. It’s a daunting proposition. I’m not surprised if she’s got misgivings. I only hope she won’t reject us. That thought keeps me on edge emotions locked down. We’ve been closed off on the island for so long, isolated. I’ve not needed anyone before. Everything I’ve learned about her world, I’ve discovered through the internet. Earth is a place I haven’t seen since I lost my family.

“This is how damaged I am, Robin,” I tell her, examining the tiny orange glow at the end of my cigarette and avoiding looking at the woman who’s managed to get under my skin in such a short space of time. “We never leave the island. I’ve struggled with things. Trigger easily. There are nights when I’m so low I’ll drink myself into the bottom of a bottle, and it can take days for me to crawl back out. I shut people out. My life is filled with broken pieces, terrible choices, ugly truths. I’m not good with all that sharing your trauma and feelings shit, but I’m sharing with you now. I’ve been addicted to filling a void within myself. It’s all crystal clear for the first time in… since I don’t know when. Somehow, you’ve calmed the storm. Having you in my bed, beneath me…that wasn’t just a meaningless fuck. If you can’t handle that, you need to tell me. If earlier was just pity sex, you better let me know. I think…I think you have the power to fix us.”

I heave in a breath, the weight of the truth pouring out of me terrifying but needing to be said.

“I can’t save you,” Robin murmurs to me softly.

A tick pulses along my jaw at her response. “Fuck…”

Shuffling forward on the mattress, still wrapped in the duvet, she blocks me from leaving when I make a move to rise. “The worst thing in the world is to watch you drowning. It’s even harder to convince an addict that they can save themselves, but it has to be your decision. You have to be ready to change. I don’t want to be collateral damage in your inner war against yourself, Morpheus. Fucking the three of you isn’t going to fix your problem. Replacing me with the drugs you take won’t work.”

Illusions hums in his throat, tossing her a dejected look. “We’ve
