Roman's Vow (Riley's Pride #4) - Sandra R Neeley Page 0,107
you before I send you back.”
“Promise, no trouble from me,” Candy said.
Lazarus looked over at Patch. “You alright with this?”
“More than,” Patch answered.
“I can’t take her for my own. That will not happen. You both got that?” he asked, looking back and forth between them.”
“I didn’t think you would,” she answered.
“You’re going to watch over her, though?” Patch asked.
Lazarus shook his head. “Yeah, damn her hide, I’m gonna watch over her.”
He walked toward the bike and opened one of the saddle bags that had appeared there overnight. He shoved his duffle down inside, which was easy to do since he only had a few changes of clothes, and the only boots he had were on his feet.
He looked up at Candy grinning giddily at him, as she stood beside the bike. “Put your stuff in the other side.”
Candy opened the other saddle bag and had trouble fitting her overnight bag inside.
“Too much shit,” Lazarus remarked.
“No it’s not,” she said, unzipping her overnight bag and taking out a pair of pumps. “Can you send me these?” she asked, walking over and handing them to Patch.
“I will. Once you get settled, I’ll send them,” Patch answered.
“And some of the rest of my stuff?” she asked. “I’ll let you know what I need, but I’m thinking it won’t be much. I paid the rent through the next month. I’ll let you know before then.”
“If I don’t hear from you, I’ll move it in here,” Patch said, indicating the shed.
“It won’t come to that. But if it does, leave the furniture. All I want is my clothes, shoes and the pictures my mom left,” Candy said.
“Alright,” Patch said, shaking his head.
“You sure you want to do this?” Lazarus asked, making an irritated face. “It’s a long ride. Nine damn hours on a bike, in the freezing fucking cold.”
“I’m sure. Nothing worth having ever came easy,” Candy said, straightening her spine.
“Fine. Load your shit. Let’s get gone,” he said.
Lazarus walked over to Patch and shook his hand one more time. “I’ll make sure she’s safe. Likely gonna live with me for a while until she can find her way. But either way, she’ll be okay. Even if I spank her ass, she’ll be okay.”
Patch laughed. “I know she will. I trust you, my friend. You take care. I’ll be looking forward to hearing from you both. Let me know you got there safe.”
“You know my number?” Laz asked.
“I do,” he said, pointing to his head, “Got it right here. And I know hers.”
Lazarus nodded, then walked over and got on the bike, cranking it to life and moving it off its stand. At the loud rumble from the exhaust Laz grinned. “Oh, yeah. Got her loud and proud again.”
“Did that the night you came in and gave me back the key. Besides, it’s safer to travel when the pipes are loud,” Patch said.
“Love it. Makes my blood run hot,” Lazarus said with a grin. He looked over at Candy. “You gonna be able to stand the noise all the way home?”
“Yes! It won’t be a problem,” she answered.
“Come on then,” he said, holding the bike steady with his legs as he put on his black helmet. “You got a helmet?” he asked.
“Yep! From when I used to ride with Uncle Patch,” she said, hurrying over to the hook on the wall inside the shed. She pulled on the hot pink helmet and turned to grin at Lazarus.
“Jesus… it’s hot pink,” Lazarus said, looking from her to Patch.
“Purty ain't it?” Patch asked, laughing.
“Lord, Riley’s gonna strangle me,” Lazarus said, shaking his head as Candy got on behind him.
“You got gloves?” he asked.
“Yep! Right here,” she said, pulling them out of the pockets of her jacket.
“Put ‘em on. It’s gonna be cold as hell,” Laz said.
She pulled them on and wrapped her arms around Lazarus. “Thank you, Lazarus,” she said, her heartfelt appreciation behind the words.
“Just don’t make me regret this, Candy. It’s already gonna make my easy life stressed. Don’t make it harder than it needs to be.”
“I won’t. You’ll see.”
Laz saluted Patch and gave the bike some gas, pulling away from the shed and taking him and Candy back toward Missouri, a Pride, and a woman who anxiously awaited his return.
The End — for now.

About The Author
My name is Sandra R Neeley. I write Paranormal, SciFi, and Fantasy Romances. Why? Because normal is highly overrated. I’m 57, I have two kids, one 34 and one 14, one grandchild, one husband and a menagerie of animals. I love to cook, and I love to read, though since I started writing I don’t get as much time to read as I once did. I’m a homebody and prefer my writing/reading time to a crowd. I have had stories and fictional characters wandering around in my head for as long as I can remember. I’m a self-published author and I like it that way because I can decide what and when to write. I tend to follow my muse — the louder the voice, the greater the chance that voice’s story is next.
I am by no means a formal, polished, properly structured individual and neither are my stories. But people seem to love the easy emotion and passion that flow from them. A bit of a warning though, there are some “triggers” in them that certain people should avoid. I’m a firm believer that you cannot have light without the dark. You cannot fully embrace the joy and elation that my people eventually find if you do not bear witness to their darkest hours as well. So please read the warnings supplied with each of the synopsis about my books before you buy them. I’ve got five series published at this time, Avaleigh’s Boys - PNR, Whispers From the Bayou - Fantasy PNR, Haven - SciFi Romance, and Riley’s Pride - PNR, Variant - a dark genetic manipulation romance, a couple of standalone novels, several short stories, and much, much more to come. I’m always glad to hear from my readers, so feel free to look me up and say hello.
