Rocker (Cerberus MC #13) - Marie James Page 0,84

I’ve never seen them in the same room before.

“Simone.”

“And this is Amelia.” The pretty little girl on her hip reaches for me, and Gigi hands her over, telling her she trusts me with her child even though we’ve only just met.

My emotions get the better of me, tears once again threatening to fall, but the little girl whispers, “Hi,” in the most angelic voice as her tiny fingers play with my necklace, and I’m lost to her.

“Are you hoping for a boy or a girl?” Gigi asks as she busies herself at the counter cutting vegetables.

The kitchen is a swarm of activity, but from the looks of it it’s also a well-run operation. Half a dozen women or more are bustling around doing various jobs, and this is nothing like I expected.

Is it wrong to be glad they’re all wearing clothes and no one is giving head in the corner? I mean, that’s what MC clubhouses are like right? I was concerned about my own child coming over here if that was how things were done, but it looks like I won’t have anything to worry about.

“Either,” I finally manage, not looking up from Amelia’s smiling face. “Jinx swears it’s a boy.”

“All men think it’s a boy.” Another woman scoffs. “I’m Khloe.”

I shake her offered hand. “Simone.”

“Most of the time, we’re right,” Kid says as he sweeps past his wife before popping a cherry tomato in his mouth.

“It is a boy,” Jinx declares, sweeping into the kitchen before bending and pressing his lips to the front of my shirt. “Isn’t that right, big guy?”

And a second later he’s gone.

Gigi grins, watching the entire thing before looking over at Jasmine. Tug and Max’s girl accompanies them to the bar often, and since she’s closer to me in age, I’ve actually had conversations with her.

“Are the three of you together?” Jasmine asks, a sparkle lighting up her pretty face.

“Not everyone are freaks,” Max says as he walks by, heading to one of the huge fridges on the side of the room.

“Speak for yourself,” Gigi chimes in.

“Jinx doesn’t understand boundaries. We’re working on it,” I explain.

“If you’re not comfortable with him touching you, all you have to do is tell him. If it’s a problem, I can talk to Kinca—”

“Is it bad that I don’t care if he does it? Or that I honestly love it even though there’s,” I look down at the child in my arms before attempting to cover her ears, “nothing going on between us?”

“Nope.”

“Not at all.”

“You do you, girl.”

These responses are shot in my direction from all over the room.

“I think it’s sexy that a man is so involved with his unborn child,” a young girl I’ve never seen before says, holding her hands to her chest with a dreamy look on her face. “Fires me right up!”

Another woman I’ve never met turns around from the counter with a spatula in her hand. “Let your daddy hear you talk like that.”

Her face falls. “I’m grown, Mother.”

Instead of engaging, all the women in the room just chuckle.

“I’m Makayla,” the woman says as she gives me a quick smile. “That’s my daughter Sophia.”

“The child doesn’t have a clue,” Emmalyn says.

“She’s twenty-one,” Gigi remarks. “She’s technically grown.”

Amelia gets fussy in my arms, so I begin to pace around the room cooing to her, and the little girl steals my heart when she lays her head on my shoulder.

“God, you’re the most gorgeous girl in the world.” I grin at Rocker as he comes into the kitchen, but my cheeks heat from the attention we’re garnering.

“Feel free to go sit down,” Emmalyn tells me with a wink. “Everyone just wanted to say hi.”

“You sure?” I want to help if they need me, but from the looks of it, I’ll only be in the way.

“We’re nearly done here. We won’t start cooking until later this evening. Just working on prep right now.”

“I can put her down for her nap.” I startle when Hound walks up, not because I’m scared of him but because the man is like air, moving around without making a noise.

“Yeah,” Gigi agrees as she smiles in my direction. “He scares me all the time, too.”

Hound takes Amelia in one arm before walking to his woman. “Normally, you’re doing something wrong.”

He smacks her ass before walking away, and my eyes immediately go to her mother. Emmalyn doesn’t even blink an eye, and from the gentle smile on her face, she’s not only not offended, but she seems happy with their
