Rocker (Cerberus MC #13) - Marie James Page 0,21

right to get upset about what these guys do in their spare time, but I couldn’t witness them, or Rocker at least, messing around with other women right in front of me when I could be carrying his child. I pay attention enough to know what they get up to. I also know that Rocker and I have been messing around for six months, but we’re not exclusive. It was one of the things we talked about before things even heated up between us.

“We got you one of those apartments in that new complex out by the highway,” Jinx says with a weak grin, as if he’s trying to convince me that I should like the idea.

“Is that right?” I cross my arms over my chest, ignoring the pain that settles in my bruised ribs.

“We had all of your stuff moved yesterday,” Rocker adds as Jinx winks at me in the rearview mirror.

Jinx stayed with me in my room yesterday because Rocker had shit to do. His words not mine. So I guess moving everything from one apartment to the other was how his day went.

“Everything?” I ask, unable to hide the blush in my cheeks.

“Don’t worry, gorgeous,” Rocker says as he leans in close to whisper in my ear. “I took great care with the things in your bedside table.”

I blame the heat outside for the redness in my cheeks, no matter how cold the air-conditioning in the SUV is blowing.

He chuckles when I look away with a swallow.

I could argue that I’m a single woman who only hooks up with him on occasion and having sex toys isn’t something I should be ashamed of, but his hand settles on my thigh and gains every ounce of my attention.

The rest of the ride is made in silence, and I’m grateful when the new apartment complex comes into view. I’m not exactly sad about not returning to my old apartment. I’ve been dreading today, honestly, but owing them anything doesn’t sit right with me either.

“We got you a two-bedroom,” Rocker says after hopping out and rushing around to my side to help me down. “You’ll need a nursery eventually.”

Jinx grabs my things from the back before we slowly make our way to the front door of the apartment.

“Ground floor because it’ll be easier with a baby and safer in case of a fire,” Jinx says as Rocker turns the knob and shoves open the door.

I open my mouth to question why the door wasn’t locked, but I find my answer sitting on the couch from my old apartment.

“Grinch,” Rocker says in greeting as the man inside my apartment stands. “Some things couldn’t be salvaged, but we decorated it as best we could to match your old apartment so it would hopefully seem like home.”

“The fridge is fully stocked,” Grinch says as he gives me a kind smile. “I’ll see you guys back at the clubhouse.”

Grinch walks out, and after Jinx sets my belongings down on the coffee table, he follows him out.

“Your room is this way.” Rocker walks down a narrow hallway, pausing in the middle of the open door. “There’s a bathroom here and one in your room.”

He opens a second door. “It’s empty because the women at the clubhouse said you’d want to pick your own furniture for the nursery.”

“They aren’t wrong,” I mutter as he continues down the hall. I would’ve liked to have been involved in this decision as well, but I’m too damn tired to argue right now.

My head is trying to guestimate just how damn expensive this place is going to be and how many extra hours I’m going to have to work just to keep it. Having a child is expensive, and I still hadn’t figured out how I was going to manage that. This is just one more thing for me to stress about.

But my head is pounding both from the beating I took and the lack of sleep I’ve gotten over the last couple of days. I practically fall into my bed the second Rocker steps out of the way.

The blankets are new, as are the sheets peeking out at the top near the pillows. Even the detergent they’ve been washed in is different from what I normally use, but all of that is comforting. Sleeping on linens that carry the memory of what Jeremy did to me there would be impossible no matter how tired I was.

“Come see the kitchen before you crash,” Rocker urges with a gentle tug to
